Time to feed the fires a bit with only a couple days to go before a prayed for dry Stanton.
Paul got the chance to drive the SD both days this weekend. Unfortunately we did not meet up when I was trolling around in the Runner to test the new SD motor against a proven quantity. Any how here is a summory of Paul during his first outing in the SD. As Pual tooled around the freshened ride he was chatting me up with this info. Much harder to luanch becuase the car can much more easily spin the tires. The big change he said, and I could hear the smile through his cell, is that "the top end pulls much harder than ever before." He was really happy with the trans that actually obeyed him also. Looks like Paul will have his hands full trying to dial in a new driving style to get the SD off the line and down the track. He may take a bit to sort out the new ride on the track but first impression is that the car is much faster than before. Mark |

Just ran a weather radar animation for Stanton Michigan....Friday we might get by with little or no rain, but Saturday, thunderstorms look to cross the whole state by mid morning-early afternoon. I sure hope this is wrong, and sometimes they are....funny how they seem to be very well paid, even if they are wrong! Will be praying for a dry time for both days. Best regards Kirk

For those who are interested.....
The radar animation looks a little better this morning, for Saturday at least. Friday there is more of a chance of light rain than there was last night , but the heavy rain for Saturday afternoon is now for late evening. It looks like the computer animation is moving this rain event back in time from what it showed earlier. Hopefully as the day goes on it will do so even more. We will be leaving here around 9:30 this morning regardless of the weather. Hope to see some of you folks there. Best reguards Kirk |

Weather forecasts more than 48 hours away are 50-50 at best.
So flip a coin today and you will have the same accuracy for prediction of Saturday weather. |

This one looks pretty crisp.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...=p4506.c0.m245 I guess these Laurentian Green 71 HO stick cars ARE real COMMON. ![]() Did I miss something in the description or did the seller FORGET? to mention if the numbers matching block is still in the car? |

Evidently they are a dime a dozen here lately, or several dimes maybe! He says it's numbers matching at the top and then in the middle it says it has the born with WC block so sounds like he is claiming its the original block

It says "Born-with" engine in the ad. Neat car! Sounds great on the videos.

That is a very nice car.
The abscence of a rear spoiler is nice to see. Great colours too. |

Only 1970-1971 Espirit's and Formula's had the nose bird emblem.

After waiting all day they finally got a couple passes in the evening. Running on the radials and not clamped the '74 SD of Pauls ran I believe a 12.88 and a 13.0. He said he was having problems getting hooked up. Problem is it is supposed to rain all day today so they may not get to make the changes and run again

Jay, he told me he was around the 2.1 on the 60 ft. and he is usually in the 1.9's. I do not remember the mph so if anyone else was there please chime in.
Saw a ton of RA 4 cars running. Oh by the way, saw a gorgeous RA 2 pull off a string of 12.0's ![]() Jody

threefidee,
Looks like it is going to be a wash out in Stanton today, just as well you guys went home last night. Yesterday was a great time though, with a "car show" while it rained , and finally some racing late in the day. Glad to have met you guys though, and the others. Darn though, we were really looking forward to the racing today. Would have been neat to have seem Paul's SD car with bias plys and clamps on the springs. I think he could have gone in the 12.5-12.7 second range, with better 60ft times. Still a great time, even with todays weather. Best reguards Kirk |

Bummer on the rain. Jay, It is too bad it is going to rain it out. They really had not touched the car at all so my guess would be at least that much or more. Usually we have found these motors need to be jetted up in the car vs. how they like it when it is dynoed. I guess it will be a long winter wondering what it would have ran set up. I guess we will continue this next June.
300 H&H, it was great meeting you as well. I am just so happy Ron and I decided to gamble and stay the rest of the day with a chance of seeing some action. It paid off ! Drove 5 hours and made it home at 1am this morning in a lot of rain. Jody

It doesnt have to be all winter...
Maybe Paul will make VMP in Oct now. There were a lot of FS guys there last year. It was the first time I saw Mino in person as well as a few others. I know it would eat at me till I made it back to the track.

1qikta, that is right. I forgot they were going to VA. They should post some nice times out there. I think Mark is taking something out there as well.
Only 1 month away, just enough time for more speculation...... Jody
