new GM replacement air cleaner duct hose came with round elbow, fortunately my car still had the drivers side set up going to the heat shield (passenger side was missing along with the stove, but not anymore courtesy of NORWOOD!)...so it has the flat spot to clear the valve cover...my 1976 T/A with the RADIAL TUNED SUSPENSION had a smaller rear sway bar, was that due to the radial tires?? any opinions??..NOV 71 build gets a repop chrome mirror...and I suppose my 1990 leafspring repop giveaway is the different style clip...lastly I saw this photo of this car...does anyone know what car it is?...I do know the 50s got a bit carried away with fins but this is THE JETSONS car??

Glenn,
I can't tell from the picture but you at least have a nut and bolt missing from the idle solenoid. I can't see the bracket to tell if it's the right one. The idle solenoid is energized any time the key is in the run position. It's more of an anti diesel (run on) solenoid. When you the car off, it drops the idle to the base setting to make sure it doesn't run on. Dave |

Glenn,
I believe the entire 72 model year cars got a black rear view mirror. |

I appreciate the input...these are the parts that were on the car...can anyone say for certain that is not the correct solenoid bracket?...is it held by 2 bolts?...I will have to see if that is possible as that would throw off the angle...are these 1972 parts?...the carb is a 1975 SR and the bracket & solenoid fading seem to match...any help on this is welcome

1973FORMULA...I do not believe that was the intent, but yes the grain does match the seat covers...although not 100% authentic...the JUST DASHES recover solved my problem and the finish work is well done

Glenn,
That is the wrong bracket. It looks like the solenoid is correct. You should be able to buy a reproduction bracket or find an original. The originals are pretty common on most Pontiac v8 from about 68-72. The one Bob posted is correct. |

Glenn - I have a spare repop bracket and the bolts that hold the solenoid to the bracket. PM me your address and I'll send it to you. Merry Christmas from WV.

thanks to those that were helping me on that thread..but a special thanks to RICKSGTO who even with my incorrect spelling found both of my original owners...I just checked NJSTEVES 1973 Formula thread and he is now 2 for 2 in this search!..when I first posted that thread I knew someone had done it, just not you..I believe I now know how you came up with the info... that was a more intelligent starting point...and my misspelling did not help...anyway I never/ever would have thought that the woman that I bought the car off of in 1985 would still live in the house..in fact they are both alive so I may still be able to find out about the history..most important the SR engine and maybe photos...the library closes at 5 so I gotta go...I was going to post more regarding this but next time..I should have done this sooner but I am always late to the party

Here is a pic, just after the Valence was changed it seems, only about a month old. Dont drool on the wheels and caps guys... those came with this car . They were gone ( thankfully) when I owned it briefly LOL Yes the grill is all Argent silver , pic has bad shadows.. this car came unspoiled but it was tossed in the trunk, just like we did at my dealership to make a deal work, with an appointment at the body shop

just saw your post on contacting the owners, glad I was able to help with it! One day I hope to find the original or at least an early owner on mine but the trail went cold about 5 owners back. Post some details of what you find out from them when you can. Always interesting to hear about original owner contacts.
