Either way, it's gotta be maxed out for that windowed block.

It was a ‘98. I thought they’d pick a car older than 20 years for that price.

Was it someone actually asking a billion dollars for it, or just one of the many, many idiots that doesn't understand how to use the price field?

I think he was serious.
His main emphasis was about how rare it was. Then speculation on how many were going to be left in five years. "It's even rarer than a 1999 model." Still more than 300 made though.
Some kind of low production factory supercar, like a MaClaren Ford... made mention of Maseratti being connected to it, IDK.
No Mitsubishe on the planet is worth more than six figures.

Yes, that's what it is.

Cool car in concept and pretty decent styling. Good power for its day but heavy and that kept it from being a stellar performer. It was also not very reliable and expensive to work on and parts were likewise expensive. I worked at a restaurant part time in the late '90s as a second job and one of the shift managers had the non-turbo 3000GT. It needed work on the steering components after not all that many miles and he couldn't afford it so had to sell the car.

Back around that same time I had a Playstation and my favorite game was Gran Tourismo 2. The 3000GT was the car to have in that game. The AWD and turbos gave it an unbeatable blend of power and traction. of course, the selection of cars to choose from was fairly limited and there weren't any other contemporary high performance cars to choose from. The 'vette in that game was like a '63 or something...
