Yep. Might as well scratch it as soon as the paint dries! LOL! heavy metallic paints are hard to touch up with a brush. It looks great! Don't worry about it.

So are all specialist (paint,glass,upholstery) prima donnas? Bodyman picked apart AMD’ work, now glass man is picking apart Bodyman’s work. Glass man said that the back glass is about 1/4 of an inch off from being able to allow the molding to lay totally flat and that my Bodyman should have fixed it. I said the Bodyman didn’t install my quarters, AMD did, on a jig and I think that’s as good as it gets. He sent me pictures and I honestly didn’t see anything and since I have Covid I couldn’t go down there. He says on the passenger side the mounding is perfect but on the drivers side it gradually rises to a 1/4 inch give or take. I finally said how bad does it look. He said not awful but it’s my shop, perfection, blah blah. I said is it gonna leak and he said no so I told him it was a driver and to just do it. Am I wrong? I mean at what point does this end?

On a side note Bodyman is fixing all my screw ups and his solvent pop free. I just gotta set aside 5 days to go to Tampa

To an extent, I think that that just comes with the territory of having multiple people involved with a project. When you're given a car and told to perform work in an area, you hope that everything will go according to plan - the way the books say it should go together. If it doesn't, and you know someone else's hands have been there previously, that's when people start getting a little grumpy. I imagine you'd have felt similarly if it had been you trying to install the window trim. I also understand someone who was tasked with installing trim not wanting to take the blame for trim that does not install correctly due to someone else's work. They have to bring that to your attention, because if they didn't, you might notice it at some point and blame them.

What do you mean "solvent pop"? Is that referring to the paint bubbling you found?

Yes I have about 10-15 tiny pimples that appeared on my right front fender where something rose to the surface and escaped. It’s called solvent pop and apparently it can happen to anyone so I can’t really blame him. He’s fixing it and my chip for free but…he’s 463 miles away. I already was gonna take it down in august for a final cut and buff and detail but because of my trouble he is gonna fix my stupidity for free and anything else he sees that I might miss plus pay for my gas. I just gotta set aside 4/5 days to blow in Tampa while he does it

Maybe come to Ocala. Check out Don Garlits Museum. Call NPD and see if the Car Collection is open to see.

You can use a piece of 3/4 inch, and tighten the hose clamp on the cylinder head end (5/8 inch) real tight. It will be fine for a fire up, done it many times.

I helped paint my 78 TA in about '88. We took it all apart except for the doors. Glasurit black single stage and clear over that for depth. Won 2nd then 4th in class at the Autorama. Then started autocrossing it with road race slicks. Well stick front tires turning throw little gravel too! Then drag race burnouts. Hurt at first then got used to it.

geeteeohguy...I was around then but in NY you weren't getting a GTO for that kind of coin and if you did it would've been real rusty. In '81 I bought a 66 OHC Tempest post for $200(still have the engine in the barn), a 67 Tempest for $100(restoring that now), and a 67 Lemans for $100(still have some of those parts).

LOL....my stepbrother is from the NYC area, is a year younger, and had a '65 just like mine except his was Fontaine Blue instead of Blue Charcoal and his was totally rusted out. Bad enough so it was too unsafe to drive to CA. He couldn't believe the 'zero rust' on the CA cars. Hell, my car still runs its original brake and fuel lines and body mounts, etc. Here's a photo of mine when I had the rear bumper off. All Original....just wiped the dust off of the frame rail...

Well glass man called. All the regulators and everything are in and all he has to do is wire it up and adjust all the glass. Hoping it will be ready next week instead of the month I was quoted. He said everything was in better shape than he anticipated so it didn’t take as long.
