Bob, I heard you like sledding? ever go up tp the U.P.?
I do hope to rip the 4-speed but after Spearfish, Norwalk and or Dayton. Otherwise I should sell both and start all over? |

I'm gettig ready to take my SD engine in for service, and in the interest of getting it back in a more correct state, I have a few questions for the Superdutyoligist on this site. When I bought the car in 1991 it had a fresh engine. Of course, it was painted the wrong color. Over the years, I have learned of some other areas that are not correct, mostly relating to the engine. Thus, I need your help! 1. Did the SD have a cast iron or aluminun "gooseneck" on top of the intake manifold? Mine is cast iron. 2. Does the water pump, where the fan clutch mounts, have studs with nuts & lock washers, or bolts with lock washers? 3. The Felpro gaskets (stamped 90123) I have for the intake manifold have a very large crossover heat riser opening that doesn't match the manifold. However, it has the larger size openings that do match up with the SD manifold port openings. Also these gaskets do not appear to have the protruding area near the front that matches the factory original gaskets. Are these gaskets available? If so from who? Felpro? Thanks in advance!

The SD engine paint is: Dupont Centari #31026 AM Medium Blue, aluminum, bolts and washers, review link below regarding gaskets.

I agree with toomanybirds on this one. If you had a fixed fan like a non A/C car then it would mount with the spacer and long bolts with lock washers. Otherwise studs with nuts and washers. Brew: I think you are looking at fixed fans not viscous coupled fans like an A/C car would have. I used to snowmobile in the UP all the time but more on the east end. Not much further west than Munising. I sold my sled last year due to lack of use. If I decide to go again it's cheaper to rent for the weekend than own one.

Thank you, too many birds, I appreciate the quick response. Somewhere along the line the thermostat housing must have been changed to the cast iron one, luckily I have an aluminun one in good condition. The water pump studs are an easy fix. I'm hoping the shop where I'm taking the engine will have a suitable intake manifold gasket. I got the proper color engine paint from Scott Tieman a while back. Could you clarify what you mean by "in the above referenced post"? I'm not seeing that on your post. Thanks again. There will be more questions soon.

Bob, I hear you about the selling the sled which is something I thought about as well. If your going on a trip anytime this year let me know and maybe we can meet up some where? |

I just bought this car for $9800, it is matching nos, rust free, original paint. I sent him the money, he is going to deliver it for free! I know I can trust him, but his english wasn't so good.....
