If I ever get to Garlits' museum, I'll ask why the pair of hemi rocker covers displayed next to Assault-1. The car ran a variety of Pontiac engines, but never a hemi.

Jack I believe it's purely because they have the M/T insignia on them tying them to Mickey Thompson, not because of the type engine they fit. But that's just a guess on my part.

No Rick isn't tied to it in anyway other then being the origianl owner.
He has met the current owner but has not seen the car.
Sadly I don't think Rick will ever own that car again.
As long as we (Local club) have known Rick and the car we have always tried to talk him into it. He just does not look upon it as I/we do.
He has his reasons and I’ll respect them.

Now talk to him about his time behind the wheel of the Sox & Martin Cuda and your ears will start to bleed

Ahhhhhh, my memory is coming back now. I remember hearing that Fulper offered the car for sale back to Rick but his asking price was ridiculous.

Just looked at Bill Eveland's pictures a couple posts ago. Is the 69 Judge lettered up as the "Nemesis" really Fred Borcherdt's old "Rocky's Goat" raced out of Rockhill Pontiac in Newark, DE? I am a local to Northern DE and always believed that this car was wrecked beyond repair in a towing accident when Fred owned the car. Can anyone shed some light on this? I read in an old Super Stock from around 1971-72 that the car was to be sold to a buyer in Iowa or Nebraska. Was that when it was renamed. This car was a local legend and NHRA record holder with various ram air iv incarnations. Thanks, Shiftydr.

Actually Brian, Bruce had intentions of restoring the car, even talked to Scott Tiemman about it, however,in reality just didn't have the extra money it would take to do it right, he had gathered up a correct block, heads, tri power , and other pieces to restore the car correctly, Arnie asked him about selling the car back to him or Rick even sent a potential buyer out to California to look at the car, the guys offer was refused of course, (too low). I don't know what he actually sold it for, but I do remember him asking around 10 grand for it, a few years back, not that unreasonable, for a car potentially worth 100K restored at that time. gotta remember this car was a "delete" car (no options) and tri power, 4 spd, 4.33 gears, and special paint code! worth pretty good money on it's own, but with Arnie being involved with it, and race history, gonna bring in more money! I plan to attend that auction, will check out the car and try to see what it sells for! although the market may not be good right now for big money!
