That was at the last restart. She managed to go another lap down in the last 11 laps of the race...

That 29th place finish was poor enough to drop her from 28th to 30th in the points. As I've previously posted, she trails Hamilin (missed 4 races) and Martin (missed 2 races) in the points.

The only drivers who have made all 12 points races that she is currently ahead of are:

Dave Blaney
JJ Yeley
David Reutimann
Travis Kvapil
Josh Wise

The difference between these 5 drivers and the Touring Queen is that she drives for one of the best teams in NASCAR and these 5 drivers run for severely underfunded race teams.

Given the same equipment and crew, all 5 would be doing better.

Goes with the DW comment: "... and Danica was doing pretty good until she wrecked..."

Which goes with: "...that skydive was going great until right at the end with the parachute not opening and the sudden stop."

Wasn't that @ same time she and the boyfriend were playing bumper tag? BK was indeed premature in his apology, but he did take the high road in doing so IMO.

Quoted for truth. Absolutely what happened, she drifted up into Brad.

Now I'm not saying I would have been any better in that situation, but most know not to be three wide. Give and take until the last couple laps will earn you better finishes and respect from the other drivers.

Spotter said "clear high" after she tagged BK? There must be a delay between spotter audio and video. What ever the case, at least 4 mistakes were made by 2 drivers and 1 spotter. BK being the least culpable as he had position.

I looked closely and Ricky was hugging the white line. He may have moved up 6" or so but Danica didn't leave herself any room. She should backed out a little. Wrong time to be aggressive.

There was "light" contact between the touring queen and the 2013 Rookie of the Year (I realize the season isn't over - but Danica is his only competition - which means he has the title wrapped up).

But if you watch the video again, you will see that Stenhouse's left side tires are on the white line virtually the entire time. He didn't drift up the hill very much if at all - maintaining your line that well at close to 200 MPH is pretty darn good.

When you are the "meat in the sandwich", you need to maintain separation with the cars above and below you. If you can't - you need to back out of the situation. She didn't.

After the light contact with the 17, Danica hits Brad K in the left rear quarter - you knew he was going around as soon as contact was made.

Brad K took one for the real race car drivers on the track by not naming the real cause of the wreck...

The middle car moves on it's on at those speeds.
3 wide rarely works on high speed corners anymore unless one is making a fast pass, stay too long and the aero dances the cars all over the place. Leaving someone a few inches isn't enough. Maybe she should have backed out, woulda, coulda, shoulda, is easy after the fact.

Personally I think the in car of Danica coming down pit road after the wreck look like she was steaming about what her BF did. But, IMO that really was a racing incident, sucks for everyone, but that's the nature of it now with these cars.

As far as the Indy finish, I'll take that over the stupid GWC anyday. Way to many GWC's in Walmartcar.
Indy would have had several more crashes had they tried multiple GWC's. Tony had lost several that way, eventually you get paid back.

IIRC that area enters the narrowing section of the turn dogleg pinching the track width? Causing cars to move (suck) into each other when 3 wide...and then add the side drafts...

I like having races end when the cars are still racing.

Indy car restarts are nothing more than a clusterfxxx.

They can't even have a decent single file restart - cars are single file - stretched out for nearly a mile - and they still have restart wrecks...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOnlgHf5oQs

They do somehow manage to start the race 3 wide - but I use that term loosely... There are 3 cars per row, but they really aren't rows (as in side by side) and then the rows are probably 50 feet apart (not nose to tail like NASCAR).

Champ, there's only 3 tracks on the IZOD schedule that have single file restarts; Indianapolis, Texas, and Fontana. All the other IndyCar tracks are double file.

I hear ya though, the single file restarts are pretty boring. Formula 1 uses single file too. The main concern is that the F1 and IndyCar cars accelerate so fast that inexperienced drivers would spin their tires and take out the entire field. Everything happens much faster in an IndyCar and F1 car than they do in NASCAR, and in open wheel racing, they can't bump the car in front of them if that car doesn't accelerate with the rest of the field.

As for the Danica crash, she made a mistake. All drivers make mistakes. Truth be told, Danica hasn't actually caused very many accidents. But granted, she also isn't running up front.

When I saw the GoDaddy car wrecking, and the #2 of Brad Kesolowski involved, I didn't need to see the replay. You had the current Sprint Cup champion, a proven driver, wrecking with Danica Patrick. I knew who was at fault. The only question was whether someone blew a tire.

Mark Martin also wiped out Aric Almirola, and it was 100% Martin's fault. Drivers sometimes make mistakes, or their spotter makes a mistake. Just part of racing. It sucked that Kesolowski, or Mr. Ed as Carl Edwards once called him because of his big chompers, had his day end because of an inexperienced rookie.

Ricky Stenhouse will win the Rookie Of The Year, unless of course NASCAR decides to change the criteria this year, at the last minute, to allow the fans to vote. Wouldn't surprise me if they did. They need to "make history" with Danica, because it means millions of dollars in promotions.

Alright, new bet. $3,000 she doesn't win the next race or YOU (or pay someone who knows 7.3 PSDs) install my new injectors, fuel system, hpop and various sensors. I'll even give odds. Panica Lovers step up!!!

Mike

If they can start the race 3 wide at Indy - how come they can't do a double file restart?

If the drivers are so inexperienced that they can't handle a simple restart - maybe they shouldn't be allowed to drive in the race.

Just a thought....

Lord help us if they try and do that...

The sooner she's out of NASCAR and back with the Indy Car crowd the better!
