Rash, I'm sure you know, but you can use the straight or angle filter housing for your bird, which ever is the best application.

Rash, what oil pump setup are you running? maybe your pressure relief valve isn't working properly, or running to much oil pressure.to much pressure can be just as bad as to little! anybody else have opinions on how much is enough!

Dude...my point is this. I can run the number with a Pontiac, I can run the number with a Chevy...I WILL break less parts with a Chevy, and that's a fact. Man, you MUST be going through a mid-life crisis or something...HAHAHAHAHAHA

No I donÂ’t follow the NMCA, but that does not mean I donÂ’t know about parts breaking. The point is I can make the same power I am now for a lot less money. I can make a lot more power with the same investment. I can have a relatively mild BBC that will run in the high 9Â’s and live much longer than my 455Â…then SPRAY it into the 8Â’s with a minimal amount of nitrous.

quote:
Originally posted by PONTIAC DUDE:
Then your selling the car because your deal with Scott said you wouldn't put a Chevy in it, then now you are if you sell the parts. It's still a tank.

I am selling my car TO BUY A LIGHTER RACE CAR, it has nothing to do with the deal I made with Scott, and it is my car you know. I am guessing that the motor and transmission will be the first to go. The body WILL sell in my area just because it is tubbed

quote:
Originally posted by PONTIAC DUDE:
Then you were going to run in the 8's last fall on NOS, now it's too hard on parts. Then you can run 9's on motor but your selling it before you do? I didn't know you were breaking parts on a regular basis.

Last year, yes, I did say I would get it in the 8Â’sÂ…with my IA Block Dude, the current motor was just for street fun originally. The IA block was sold to Scott Rex last year, as I was not going to dump 20 grand to build it without a decent set of heads to put on it. I have not broken a single thing in this motorÂ…yet.

quote:
Originally posted by PONTIAC DUDE:
Yes there is a weakness and it's the stock block and crank. When trying to break that 8 second barrier. Change these "2"...."TWO"... pieces and I think you will have a liveable combination that will go fast.

The weakness in the block and crank is very true and I have learned that these IA blocks require A LOT of machine work to even use. Thankfully it was after I sold mine. I will not have to wait 4-6 months for a decent crank and block either if I use Chevy, they are on the shelf in mass quantities.

quote:
Originally posted by PONTIAC DUDE:
But unless you further educate yourself, Your Man, Scott Rex can't be there and hold your hand all the time if you race, Hahahahahha. Your still gonna break parts with a Chevy trying to run consistent 8's for a full season on one engine in that heavy a car. Period.

As far as needing Scott to hold my hand while I raceÂ…I would like to know where you got that info from Dude. Actually the fastest time I went and the best day I had last season I was alone. Scott has done a lot for me and showed me many things...he is not sitting next to me in the car when I race though. I think that you jumped to some conclusions Dude, I am not looking for a car to run 8Â’s every weekend, all weekend.

quote:
Originally posted by PONTIAC DUDE:
In closing: Paul, Race hard and have fun......And I'll wait for you at the other end of the 1/4 mile to say Good race, Hahahahahaha. Later, dude.

You truly are a riot DudeÂ…good luck with everything and make sure you come to Norwalk hungry.

Brian, I'm running the same set-up. I have the Nunzi plate with #8an lines running to a Moroso single filter housing with a K&N HP3002 filter. I've run this combo for 2 years with over 200 passes and no probems yet. I pulled the pan last winter to repair a leak and checked the bearings -they all looked fine. I shift the car at 6200. Should I be worried??

I use the angled fitting and a short filter but there is no way I could get that thing in past my headers, I have tried, and since I change the oil after every week...it would be REALLY inconvenient to have to remove the header every time. I have 1 more housing to try and that's it. If it works, then great, if not...there is something else wrong.

The old rule of thumb is 10 lbs for every 1000 rpms, is all you need. If your pushing 90 lbs, that's why your blowing out oil filter seals. Way to much pressure. What counts for good oil pressure is what you have at the rpm, need to shift the motor at.

I used to run, Nunzi whole set up, which was a remote oil filter on the fire wall, with a 2 qt. truck AC oil filter, kept blowing out seals. I watch Simth with his beautifull 66 GTO, almost lose his whole car at Maple Grove, running the same set up. after he blow out the seal on the oil filter. To scary for me. He runs 9.40's.

This is what I did, I went to a O'Berg filter set up, the oil pressure drop to 70 lbs, ****ing were I needed too. I love it, real easy to change, an nice for keeping your eyes on what the bearings are doing. You'd be really surprize what you fine in that thing, on a fresh motor. Plus I get to run 2 qt.'s
less oil.
