Is that what you run HIS in your engines, as per your recipe of 1 cup per 5 quarts oil ?. I would like to look into the levels of all those additives in gear oil as it may help us get some extra miles from our flat tappet cams. Thanks for the info HIS and keep up the killer posts.

The bum cream my 10 month old uses high concentrations of zinc, somewhere around 17% and i think Head and Shoulders shampoo does too. Oh the possibilities

I see they even have a 5W-60, call HPR Synthetic-5, recommended for high-output turbocharged and supercharged engines. I didn't realize viscosity-modifiers could have so much range. Any oil experts who can elaborate on oils which "have no friction modifiers"?

HIS, I found some info regarding gear lube in engines :
First of all, extreme pressure (EP) additives are not typically used in motor oil. EP additives are used in gear lubes and some greases. This is because they contain sulfur or chlorine compounds that become active under engine operating conditions. In this activated state they react with the water found in by-products of combustion, and form acids which are corrosive to engine components such as bearings. |
