Jim,

This is the design I would think might make about 20 more than the Victor, but it is big bucks. Anyway just and idea next time you try a sheet metal intake.

Lynn,
Send it down here and I will test it against the Victor. What is the beginning runner area? That one looks new...have you tried it yet?

We have made curved, paired runners with a taper angle and all I remember is that they will try one's patience. We had a quite a bit of scrap making that one. :-)

Lynn.I like the angle of the runners. Was this to improve velocity? What is the height from floor to top of runner. That intake looks very impressive and certainly not cheap to build. Is this for your Super Stock motor. What"s the runner length if you don't mind me asking.

Sorry cant send this one, it isn't mine. The guy was nice enough to send a few pictures to me. He said he was running a Nash and picked up 65HP. I believe 45HP was available with the Victor. This intake was done by Tim Hogan.

This was about 2.8 X 1.5 on the opening if I remember right. It wasnt for a tiger head, I think it was for Edelbrocks or KRE-D ports, so the intake ports weren't huge. My SS Victor is a bit larger with more taper.

I will get one for me, but all my money is in about 4 other projects.

Jim,

Those port molds are impressive. Mind labeling them for us? Where is the minimum CSA?

i would think it would have to be in the bowl at the valve if he is at approx. 90% of 2.11 valve diameter...... 2.11x90%=1.899=2.83 csa or so......

Jim, did you look into the port intruder setup to remove the headbolt sleeve and sink the headbolt in the shortturn area?

Lynn,
Leave it to the Super Stock guy to ask the hard questions. I have to keep some things under wraps. :-) Since dyno-ing the engine back in Oct '06 we thought long and hard about what really made this one sing. The intake port specifics and cam timing specifics are very important. Therefore, details we are not going to reveal just yet are cam specifics beyond what has been disclosed here or hardcore details about intake ports. Many years of building, tuning, testing and racing to arrive at them. We have provided pictures and dimensions to help others with their efforts without giving away the farm. I hope all can respect our position.

HotCat 63,
Valve covers are made from magnesium. We are working on supplying these with or without CNC work. More to follow.

J.C.you,
Don't forget to subtract the area of the stem diameter...and the area immedicately under the "last" seat cut is not perfectly round as the formula suggests.

Thanks to all for your interest,
Jim

ok, agree with the stem area subtraction, just a observation of the limits of the port size with a 2.11" valve limitation.

Jim,

I was just asking for the Pontiac guys here on the forum. It looked like you were publishing a Case Study for these guys. No problem, I respect proprietary info. My apologies.

We have a limit of 160-165 ccs on the D-port heads, and 188 on the SD heads, so we cant come close to your port sizes.

Jim- Do you think (or perhaps know) whether that 127% VE suffers much without 30" header extensions? Thanks.

His heads are flowing at .400" what my old d-ports flowed at .600".
