Thanks, the carpet was layed out in the car for a week before I did any cutting. I spent about five hours on each half of the carpet cutting the holes. I didn't trim it at the kick panels, all the extra was tucked up behind them and they fit fine. Also had all nuts, bolts and screws in place for locating holes once I had the two carpet halves where I wanted them. Next week I'll clean up the sill plates and install the front seats. One thing I didn't install was the heavy tar based insullation.

Just having your old car is awesome.

I could not afford to keep mine running.
Then marriage, etc.
I sold it in the early 90s for next to nothing because I could use the cash,
and I would rather see someone else put it back on the road than watch it rot. (place to store was a damp, dingy falling in garage in the north).

I can't find the car now. So I got one that had also been rescued. Guy did not want to get rid of it, but he wanted a fishing boat and to get and restore a rarer 68. Only thing I would like more is if I found my old one. Keep plugging on them, you'll be glad you never got rid of it.

Front seats and steering wheel are in. The tear in the drivers seat was repaired after these pictures where taken. also got my hidden headlight doors fully installed, then found out I had to remove the bumper to run the headlight harness along the upper part of the radiator support.

Looking great! I'm using a '70 steering wheel and swirled lower dash bezel as well.

Made alot more progress. Installed engine, trans, exhuast, gas tank. Painted the rims yesturday and today. Hooke up a battery and tested my lights, some of my dash lights don't work so that will be addressed over winter. And yes I know my exhaust tips are up side down, they won't sit correctly with these tail pipes.

After 18 years my GTO moves on its own power. I drove it up to the top of the driveway and turned around and went back to the garage.

A friend of mine came over late Sunday afternoon and helped me put the hood on, still no front bumper. I drove up the road about a mile to see how the transmission works, since I rebuilt it myself using Jakeshoes valvebody mods and it shifts nice. It is driving me nuts that I might not get to drive it more. Still have to align the front bumper and have some hidden headlight fun afterwords. Thanks, Eric

Took the 69 out for a drive today, stopped at local park and took a few pictures. It's not done, still have some dash lights to get working, install tach and wire up gauge lighting.

Must be very satisfying for you. When you started this thread, your car looked just like mine...in primer with no glass or interior. Now it looks good, painted and you're driving it. Mine still looks exactly like your's did in the first post.

Nice!....You did the exact thing I had done to my H/T: No lower chrome trim, and blacked out front grilles/hideaways...I even removed the white paint on the front GTO emblem...One note (b4 someone else tells you)...Your exhaust tips are installed upside down...They should exit almost horizontal to car.....

Thanks, it's very satisfying, I'll drive it until it snows. robz, I installed the tips that way because the tailpipes are Torque Tech 2 1/2" and the angle is wrong, so the tips would point up. I may try to angle the tips the correct way this winter. The tips are the Pypes 2 1/2" 69 style. I'll get some engine shots after I clean the air cleaner housing. Thanks again.

Finished some things up that I didn't do last year like the wiper arms, valance moldings and grills, radio(am from salvage yard for $10, originally am/fm), changed the printed circuit and change all the dash bulbs so all the lights work.. Include a engine shot and some pictures of what it looked like sitting in my parents yard for a few years before I got a garage built. Should be ready to cruise besides for some tuning.
