Out she comes!
Pulled the engine and will remove the oil pan to see why she won't spin freely.

Couldn't get the original engine to free up so I got ahold of one from a '62 Bonneville..
Better 4 speed automatic too.. Hope to be rolling in this car soon. It ain't pretty just yet but it will be stopping and going soon.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8odAtSxBroE

The transmission tunnel on a Catalina is smaller than the tunnel on a Bonneville, so you may have to do a little sledgehammer therapy on it to get the four speed automatic to fit. I believe the rear crossmember mount for the transmission is different, I'm not sure if the driveshaft length will change or not.

I did this swap in a '63 GP a few years ago.. Same length trans, same mounts, same driveshaft, different yolk.. Just a small area where the tailshaft bolts on touching and pushing up on the floor a bit right now.. I'll probably cut a smile in the floor there, jack up the tail shaft 3/4 of an inch too much, then drop it back down and weld a small piece in.. Otherwise fine though..
