I believe you. No question there. I'm just trilled with how it's running now and just want to drive it and enjoy it before moving onto the next project.

Tell me about these pistons. We just restored a 69 Firebird with a 400, 670 head, mild cam and these pistons. It runs hot, 200° plus. New everything in cooling system.

Very bad design for combustion efficiency.

Lots of sharp edges for pre-ignition.

The list could go on and on.

A Poor Attempt to allow a 389 piston and a 400 piston in the same package.

FWIW, my 462 has always run at 210, and I've tried everything $uggested here and more. Mech fans, electrical fans, expensive water pumps, gutted stats, non gutted stats, timing, vac advance, jetting, radiator caps, water wetter, several expensive aluminum radiators, etc. etc. etc. It has and still runs at 210 once warmed up, regardless of speed, outside temp etc., confirmed with several sending units, gauges and thermometers, no matter what.

It's got almost 20k on it in the last 9 years and runs stronger than ever. I wouldn't sweat it if I had to do it all over again.
