i owned a monarch yellow 72 455 HO GTO auto car...with a brown top and interior..it was so hidious, i sold it to someone that wanted to build it...to find out he parted it to dirt, and crushed the body...back around 2000

The GTO and Lemans Sport both had 14" Plain Steel w/ Dogs and Blackwalls as standard.
But the GTO had better springs/shocks & Regular Size Frt / Rr sway bars.
That is the price variance between them on the option.

The GT had probably same spring/shock pkg as GTO - but no Rear Sway Bar.
The GT already had like a double upgrade on the wheels (14x7)
So those considerations made the price variance between them on the option.

14x7 R2's were $87
G70x14 RWL were $42

Y99 had its own spring/shock package above/beyond base GTO, and the huge frt and rr bars , Pwr Assist steering with fast ratio box, 15" base wheels and RWL tires, etc...

So a 72 LeMans Sport with the Y99 handling package would have come with 15" steelies with RWL and poverty caps and not Rally 2s?

correct, as long as the Sport option was not ordered, and optional rallyII's were optioned. Also if combined with with the GT option, if so should have rally II's. Have no idea what is up with Gary's GT Sport hardtop...being so well preserved, would be interesting to read the wheel box on the buildsheet of that one.

Last, all '72 LeMans Sport converts were limited to either 14x6 or 14x7 (honeycomb) wheels, no Y99 package avail on the converts.

Gary, just looked up your '72 GT/Sport on the old list and realized it is a Pontiac plant build. That is going to be a tough to find buildsheet. The 3 buildsheets I have out of 71 and 72 Pontiac plant builds, I found under the carpet on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. They are the small style buildsheet and drew a bunch of resin up from the tar underpayment, two need to be soaked in laquer thinner. If it was a Lakewood build, then should be as simple as pulling the drivers doorpanel, know we've pulled our share of those.

Yup, I've found in the same spot on my Pontiac build lemans, pass seat floor board.....other areas I've found :

Driver door panel
Top of gas tank
And most unusual was in a bucket seat...bottom back side of the seat.

Wouldn't hurt to look in ALL the seats, backrests and bottom cushions.

But - as Roger said - most likely on a Pontiac Plant car would be under the carpet laying on the tar underlayment, difficult to extract and tough to read. Gotta try the lacquer thinner soak trick.

For another data point, I had a ’71 LeMans Sport (350 2bbl) out of the Pontiac plant. The build sheet was on top of the gas tank. Didn’t find any others …

My Pontiac-built GT-37 had one under the carpet, passenger side of the tranny tunnel. Saturated with tar paper gunk. Soaked it in a tray of lacquer thinner and it came out pretty nice.
