At a Bar...been married 30 years next June

I was disimpacting a patient (pulling crap out of his butt with my finger), a cute little nursing student came in to ask me if I needed help. She must have liked my technique. Married 22 years with 3 kids.

It's interesting how many people have one of those "oh....wow" moments when they meet or simply see somebody.

Mine was like that. Mary introduced us and I was thinking.....OH WOW....inside.

This has been an interesting thread and a good read.

I met my wife in 2003, at the time we both worked for a large electronics manufacturer and she transferred into my department. We chatted once in awhile but she was married so I never thought anything of it. She was also part of a handful of us would go out to lunch during the summer when it was nice out. I had a '69 Dodge Super Bee and would drive it occasionally to work. One day after lunch she mentioned how nice it was to go for a ride and I made a comment that she didn't have to wait for the group.

The next day I thought I was in trouble as she needed to talk to me. Well it turns out she wasn't happy in her marriage and was pursuing a divorce. We started dating shortly after and have been married 7-1/2 years.

And even better she is into the cars. We traded the Super Bee of for a Pontiac (restored '56 station wagon) and have purchased two more Pontiacs since ('54 sedan and '41 coupe). She enjoys the hobby and gets into it by dressing in period clothing for cruise-ins. While she was sad to see the Super Bee go we have had a lot of fun with the Pontiacs.

I got lucky - a woman who puts up with me and also supports the car hobby to the point that she wants a fourth Pontiac - a '48 Streamliner sedan.

Met my wife Nancy at the bar too.

1981 my good friend Tom and I were out on the town, we heard of this place that was supposed to be a good place to meet women so off we went. Sometime during the evening Tom tells me there are a couple gals sitting alone and we should go over. We sat down and small talked, I should say her friend Sue did all the talking, Nancy sat there with the I hate men face. In fact Tom and I commented on the way home how Sue was really nice but Nancy, what a bitch.

We continued to frequent the bar where we saw Nancy and Sue quit often. Most of the time there was a fairly large group with them, which most were from a recreational/beer drinking softball team. After some time, we befriended them and joined the softball team and hung out.

During the next few years we dated other people, bringing our girlfriend/boyfriend to play softball and canoe trips, I had even hooked up with her friend Sue at one time.

Nancy then got engaged to a guy and I went overseas to work for some time.

Once I returned I started hanging around with my buddy Tom again. One time while we were at is house there was a knock on the door and there stood Nancy and her roommate, they just rented a townhouse right around the corner from Tom's house. Come to find out that she got a job as an Air Traffic Controller and the guy she was engaged to did not want her to have any job but stay home and have lots of children. Needless to say that didn't fly well with Nancy and they broke up.

One day I finally got the courage to ask her out and she reluctantly agreed.

That was 1984 and we married in 1988, 27 years.

And yes I still get ribbed about porking her friend Sue.

Holy crap, that is funny. Your kids must love that story.

Met as coworkers in an engineering firm in 1998. She later became my boss at that company. Then 3 of us decided to start our own company. After almost 20 years of that she divorced her first husband. I always had strong feelings for her but as a best friend and partner. Then in 2011 we started carefully dating not wanting to risk harming the business. Turns out we get along great almost 24 hours a day together. We got married in 2013 and are still going strong. I get along with her girls (both doctors) like they were my own. In fact as I write this we are in Chicago airport coming home from a business trip. Looking forward to spending my 3rd xmas with them all at home then we are all going to Lake Tahoe for a few days in the snow.

Cruising in my friends 68 Dodge 440 R/T. Its just after midnight and two girls are in a gas station with a flat tire. The station is closed and we pull in and say you need help. They say yes and we never stop and pull out. The next time I see my wife I am in my 68 GTO at an A&W Root Beer Drive In. Ask her for a date and she says yes. We go to a Drive In Movie and been married 43 yrs. More than once when cruising in our 67 GTO will say hey we should be going to the drive in.

The first time I saw Sandy, my reaction was "WOW" but then decided she had a husband or boyfriend bigger than me. Little did I know she has just gotten out of a horrible relationship (same as me) and wanted NOTHING to do with men in general.

My cousin Sandy could not date without another couple going with her. So my Cousin tells me about this girl that she met at the local roller rink and would I be interested in going out on a double date with her next Saturday. I said yes.
I pull up to my cousin's house in a multi colored and primered 1963 Bonneville Vista. My date pulls up in a red 68 Mustang Fastback.
We are now in the house and we figure out where we want to go and decide that we can't take my car, so we will go in her's. I was surprised to see that the Mustang was a stick and I was all impressed....until she drove it! She had NEVER driven a stick before and barely made it to my cousin's. We take off and I am barking out orders on what to do. We got to our next stop and she throws the keys at me and said "you are driving"! Little did I know that the Mustang was her Father's car and it was the only car at home that she could use, since her sister had taken the car that she usually drives.
That was May 21, 1977. We got married May 22, 1982. She ended up getting the Mustang from her Father, but it was a typical New England rust bucket. 12 year later, I replaced it with a 1967 Red Mustang Fastback 289 stick from California. She still has it and drives it during the nice weather.
