I think I got it: Mickey Thompson's Challenger. Powered by 4 389 Pontiac engines....406.6 mph in 1960. Strato-streak powered lightning..............

Using an MPH calculator, my set up with 2.73 / 26.5" height:

4000 rpm: 115mph
5000 rpm: 144mph

with 3.42 / 26.5 for comparison

4000 rpm: 92mph
5000 rpm: 115mph

going 27"+ tire ups mph a little / few mph

Ran mine for fun... Ho listed at 335 hp at 4800. There would be a 10-12% Drag Loss

OD's really are where it's at for real world performance and road driving. You have top end and zip. I have big spreads between gears that are worlds unto themselves..... the only cope is a higher stall convertor and power.
