Watch the Semi smash car at 0:15:
https://youtu.be/5MwubRejBIU I wanna say I hope they were OK, but that was really bad. Hopefully nobody was still in the car. Should he have taken the truck off the road into the ditch instead??? I don't know? Edit: you can see the brake and reverse lights come on in the car right before impact. Damn.

Damn that truck hitting that black SUV just crushed it. You gotta think getting out is best but if you get hit while exiting you’re screwed too.
When it’s your time it’s your time I guess

This is nothing. It barely made the news when we were kids. For anyone that wants to know the meaning of cold, I've got two words for you: Edmonton, Alberta. Many days where a lot of people just could not get the car going. Fahrenheight and Celcius meet at -40. I lived on the streets for six years. I don't know how I survived. But i did.

So weve been fortunate no outages gas(years ago in our area someone let moisture into gas line froze up about 30 homes for 24 hrs during this type of cold) or power. We(the cats and me) have food, heat, light.

57 dead and still climbing. And just about all of these deaths in places that are familiar with winter weather.

So I did the stuff I posted about earlier, gas for the generator, checked antifreeze in 5 vehicles, piled 1 ton of wood pellets on the porch for the pellet stove. The power never went off, 1-2 inches of snow, lowest temp here in the valley I saw was -12F.
What I couldn't prepare for was a cable outage at 3:00 AM Friday morning, Because we live in a valley, we have zero cell tower coverage, we depend on the WiFi to use our cell phones, TV, internet, and the cable also connects our land line. We were communication starved for 5 days, and its came back on at 1:30 Tuesday. Other than playing solitaire on my computer, I've been pretty bored....LOL. I'm at level 37...ROTFLMFAO.... ![]() My wife has had a upper respiratory infection infection so lots of sleeping. I made a couple runs into town for food, and stuff, roads running N and S were drifted pretty bad, but living in Erie PA most of my life, nothing I haven't seen for decades while living in Erie, whiteouts etc. The cable company wasn't going to send out anyone to repair it until they didn't have to pay double time for techs, so the first regular working day it's back on. My wife works from home, and she has a dedicated business line that has to be on for her to do her work, she's none to happy with the cable companies "We don't give a damn when your cable come back on", says she's looking for an alternative. Well back to normal now...

"Red Sky in the Morning,
Sailors Take Warning" Taken at 6:30 AM this morning Another big storm slamming into the Northern California coast with wind gusts of 70-80 MPH.. Predicted to dump a ton of snow onto the Sierra-Nevada. The tail end of that storm is coming into SoCal tonight. Predicted off and on rain for us for the next week or so. I wonder how that will play out moving east. The snow is welcomed adding to the Sierra-Nevada snowpack, and feeding into the reservoirs. Rainfall in San Diego is about an inch below normal so far this rainfall year.
