I picked up this 62 on 6/8/14 for $400. 195, 4bbl, 2spd. Lots of rust!

No, south Whidbey Island. Started out white, then yellow, now purple.

"best offer..." Probably too far gone to restore, but could be a decent parts car (I noted that it's actually a 61, not a 62). Importsmasher

It's a '62 with '61 front end. The price is right, but shipping would cost too much for me to be interested.

That looks to be a very basic "base" model. Doesn't even have the front fender's top chrome trim, even though it has the cove spears. It is a coupe with the big back window, not a "sport" coupe with the smaller back window. The front and rear windows use rubber gaskets instead of butyl caulk and stainless trim. Intersting that it is not a radio delete car.

My original '63 Tempest (bought in Sept. '62) was a stripper like that. It was a big window coupe ordered with front & rear window chrome trim but not door chrome trim (Stainless? vent window frame). Cove spears. No side spears, no wind splits on the fender tops. Radio delete. Black car over red cloth interior with a custom clear steering wheel, remote fender mirror, day nite interior mirror, 4bbl automatic.
$2125 delivered.

Do you remember if the front and rear window trim was a stand alone option? My guess would have been it was tied to trim package including windsplits. Being a Sept car I'm guessing it was a gasket windshield car.

Usually it was part of the upper or lower decor trim package,,,, But with Pontiac, if you were ordering a new car, you could get just about anything you wanted. If you just wanted the windshield trim, no poblem.

I remember the owner of the dealership (!) (Jim Roche Sr., Roche Pontiac, Callicoon NY) sitting at the kitchen table with us and picking and choosing every piece of trim etc. on the car. The car is long gone (Sure miss that steering wheel !) so I have no idea if it had a gasket windshield. Can you tell from the corner visible in the second picture? (PS that picture was taken in Dallas) Barely noticeable in the black & white photo is the base of a four foot whip antenna (over the rear passenger side wheel) - cant say what it was for, but I was working for the NSA at the time....
