Tell us the story...of how you acquired them .........lose a bet ? Got them for free ? .....or just wanted to be different ?

I had originally intended to put a new set of narrow whites on the Hurst wheels, but then a young man I know whose father owns a wheel refinishing business had these new takeoff Coker Classic wide whites (Impala show car owner switched to bias tires) sitting around and gave me a nice deal on them.

I figured I’d give ‘em a try and I really like them. I like redlines too but everyone else has them plus I’m not into buying tires for $300 each.

I don’t mind being different and I also don’t care if it’s not a popular look for a muscle car. Plus convertibles look perfect with white walls, wide or not.

No I didn’t lose any bets and I’m not really someone who cares about what anyone else thinks about the style or theme of my rides. A lot of people dig it and maybe a lot of people shake their heads and badmouth it, either way it’s fine with me.

Kinda like my ‘84 Corvette wheels that I run on my VW pickup. They might not be popular among most of the VW crowd who heavily favor Porsche Fuchs wheels (it’s like a vast sea of them at most shows) but I gotta say my truck has its share of fans as much or more than it has its group of haters.

Of all the vehicles I’ve ever owned more people give it the thumbs up and break their necks trying to get a look at it. Not to mention it’s probably the only VW Rype II in the world with a set of 16x8.5” ‘Vette wheels.

Or how about my old ‘57 Bel Air Sport Coupe (sold it and used the cash to buy my Tempest and Le Mans) with 15x5.5” Fuchs alloys on adapters I made at work. Different is good.

My Tempest with 17x8” custom built steel wheels painted black with dog dish caps and a wide red pinstripe simulating the look of 14” redline tires back in 1999. Now there’s tons of aftermarket black painted wheels with the red stripe, I didn’t copy anyone and wanted something different

I don’t follow the crowd.

Woke up really early to meet a handful of GTO guys at 6am for the Goodguys show. Got caught in the rain on the way down on the freeway and found out my windshield has a leak. The weather cleared up quickly and overall had a nice day looking for a project car for my son and chatting with some local Pontiac guys. Pretty good showing of Pontiacs compared to normal. For some reason there seemed to be a lot of '65s.

Got home this afternoon to find the other half of my keychain with my extra T/A keys missing. I think it's on the show field somewhere

Ken, your car is a drooler for me, but you definitely found a playground of peers. The white LeMans is a nostalgic trip for me with those wheels.

Agree- a few fantastic looking GTO”s there.

Doing a rotation today at my place. Wife wants the 30th anniversary easily accessible to drive to work when she wants and I want access to my 87 5.0 Mustang (I know!) so we are moving some things around. Took the mustang out last night, gonna take the K5 to the storage unit and maybe pick up the 66 since it has vintage air. Still brutally hot here. Too much crap and not enough space

I know the feeling. I have a 7 car garage that is full and a 20x40 storage unit. I have 4 cars and a side by side in the storage unit. Also have a 3 car wide carport that we park our daily drivers under.

That LeMans was a sweatheart. It's funny how these cars, as simple as they are, will catch my eye as much as Judge or a T/A, maybe even more so because you don't see them that often. Some more pics below. I was too busy chatting with folks yesterday, I really didn't do a good job capturing all the Pontiacs.

My 70 Formula never had an emblem in the grill, so I thought it was time! Found a decent one on EBay a while back and did a restoration on the paint. Looks nice with the new colors for sure!

Did a 1st test mounting today. I think it’s a keeper!

Tighten down the 1 and only bolt on the KRE water cross over and then smear a tad of water sealant around the sides to stop coolant from coming through the bolt and sides.

Yesterday took a little early morning 34 mile freeway ride leaving at 6 AM to another cars and coffee event, this time in Los Angeles at Griffith Park near the LA Zoo. The weather was awesome in the low-60s so I drove comfortably with the top down. The Le Mans couldn’t have run better, I was so pleased.

I rolled to the event with my buddy Rob who has a ‘71 VW Squareback powered by a ‘99 LS1 Corvette engine with 4L60E transmission. The engine is stock but propels it to 12-flat 1/4 miles and it pulls down 21 mpg highway with a 3.70 geared 9” Ford rear.

A couple of completely insane rides parked next to us later in the morning. One being a Renault Dauphine powered by a VW VR32 V6 and an even crazier 350Z equipped with Honda K20 500 HP turbocharged engines mounted both front and rear for all-wheel drive.

Finally got around to permanently installing my new to me aluminum insert. I purchased this OEM piece from Bill Ryder last year and the quality is outstanding. Bill exercised great patience removing this from a car years ago with out damaging or bending so the fit was perfect. The original adhesive was still on the back so all I had to do was remove it and reapply new adhesive like the factory did. Im aware of the incorrect gray paint color on the lower dash trim bezel and heater control face plate, as well as the aluminum piece in the heater control face plate. Someone years ago took their time fitting/installing it so for now it stays that way but sometime down the road I may remove it.

Last night I installed a rebuilt 76 stick carb on my 75 TA 4 speed. I had ordered it back in March and it arrived a couple weeks ago. The car ran good before, but was slow to start and under acceleration it felt like something was holding the car back. After installation I drove a half mile stopping, starting, accelerating, etc.. The difference was immediately noticable. The car starts in 3 seconds vs 10 seconds. Engine running smoother, car feels quicker too. No adjustments to new carb yet. I'll fine tune with vacuum gauge in a few days. The original carb will go with the car one day.

Doesn't surprise me. I don't think that carb has ever been apart. Did you leave the '72 intake on it?

Hey Joe, Yeah I did. Like you said, the original intake looks restrictive. With the reversible mods you did and now the carb, I think that's all I'll do under the hood unless I add an electric choke. Still debating that.
