No. Probably a "when built" thing. I believe the GVWR line was added a little later in '72.

According to ECS it was required beginning in January, 1972. The Black Car is sort of an anomoly. It has a body build date of 12B, but didn't ship until January 11, 1972. The VIN sticker NJSteve ordered reflects a 1/72 build and has the additional GVWR and GAWR information required in 1972.
I am still looking for a picture showing typical placement of the Canadian Import sticker. |

Well, I gave up and sourced paint myself for the clips and I am very happy with how the test turned out. Now I'll pull the original clips and get them shot as they are a little different. Here's a couple of pictures which include the paint I used. I have become a big fan of the TAMIYA model paint for little things like this. They have a wide range of colors, and the paint is pretty good. Here you go. |

we had a page or two on the changeover where the GVWR was added going on in Pat's '72 resto thread a few years ago and we figured out the change over was around the 2nd week of Dec. '71 somewhere in the 12B production. I think they needed cars delivered by the first of January to have the GVWR.

if someone wants to play with making their own on a laser printer, I came up with this method and saved the font and spacing for future reference. Once you have the test page, just tape the sticker in place over the print and run it back thru the printer.

My Formula is a 12B and that's that factory sticker. Norwood was probably banging these out before the change?

So I have been frustrated at the fact that nobody produces the red fuel line pinch clamps with the square shoulders. I can't understand why it would be so hard to make them, but all the aftermarket pinch clamps have the rounded shoulders. I decided to take matters into my own hands, and I now have 18 NOS "style" red pinch clamps. The olive and black ones are next.

yes, I'm sure they had to change over early on the decal to be safe for the new rule. The speedo changeover to the non-functional seat belt warning was about a week earlier in late Nov. to be ready for the Jan.1 seat belt warning requirement too.

I also has to do with the weight of the car and when it was built. They changed around Jan 1st to the new system with the weights, if I recall correctly. Also a T/A was a different weight than the Formula.

I should add that 71GP76TA's decal is the '70-earlier one. Bob's is the '71-later one.

Nice Keith. Boy, the person running the printing was way off that day.
