just a quick note to say I got my interior from Legendary today. It looks great! I can't wait to get it installed, but I'm going to have to! Norman is supposed to cut the rear sheet metal loose this coming Saturday and line everything up.

Dang, I feel like scrapping my whole project and deleting this thread after looking at RedDirtRoad's concourse restoration!! That car makes mine look like it was done by a rank amateur!! Wait a minute, I am a rank amateur! So, I reckon I'll keep on keepin' on.
I took some parts to Columbus yesterday and was hoping to see the rear end hanging loose but it was not to be. Norman's helper got tied up and couldn't make it. I spent a few hours today buffing the instrument cluster lenses and now I have a question. The lens that covers the right pod with either the clock or oil pressure/ water temp gauges; do they both have the hole for the clock stem? I have two instrument clusters, one with gauges and one with a clock and both lenses have the stem hole at the bottom.

No hole in the lens with rally gauges.

We didn't get anything done on the car due to the holiday weekend. Plus, I worked all week including yesterday. I did order new seat springs and seat back bumpers from our host. With shipping they came to $401.72. One of the seat backs is on back order (that sounds funny, doesn't it?) and should be here in a few weeks.
Hopefully, by then there will be some progress on the car. I found a company in California that can mix the correct interior color for me in a base coat and vinyl dye. I contacted them last week and gave them Norman's number so he could tell them what he needs. But, they haven't called him yet so I will call them back Tuesday and see what's up. Here are the updated totals: My Labor @ 433 hrs.............$8,660.00 Parts ..............................$12,688.36 Outside labor .....................$7,801.00 Gifts ................................$1,559.87 Total ...............................$30,709.23

Phil, it's always fun and the Wish List can go on forever. Hell, I'm always wishing for something. And not always GTO related either.
LOL

I got my interior paint ordered. I got paint and vinyl dye. It should ship Monday or Tuesday. I also ordered some door windlace and a dash bezel. They should be here before Friday and I will take them to Norman Saturday.
I haven't heard from him so I don't know if he has worked on the car or not. I will update totals when I get the stuff. Y'all have a good one.

Hey Y'all,
My interior paint should be here Tuesday. Also, I got a new dash bezel. I had to cut the hole for the A/C and I was very scared I'd mess it up but I managed to get it done. I took it to Norman yesterday so that should be everything that has to be painted the interior color. Norman did get a little adjusting done on the trunk lid so I now have a gap on the driver's side. But, there may be a hitch in the passenger side. The trunk lid is curled down more on that side than the driver's side. I am talking about the lip where the trim attaches. If Norman can't get it corrected I may have to get another lid! I spent $596.15 on the paint and dash. And it took me 1 1/2 hours to cut the hole (an hour and fifteen minutes of that was spent praying I would do it right!) Here are the latest totals. My labor @ 434.5 hrs. ...............$8,690.00 Parts ....................................$13,284.51 Outside Labor ..........................$7,801.00 Gifts ......................................$1,559.87 Total ....................................$31,335.38

Hey Y'all,
I took the bezel to Norman last Saturday. And that's about it! The interior paint did arrive at his shop Tuesday but I haven't talked to him since so I don't know if he has done anything or not. He is trying to get a 64 GTO put back together so the owner can pick it up. Yes Eric the 64 is finally painted. I will post some pics in the other thread about it. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=675059

Again, no news on the car. I spent 4 hours sand blasting one seat frame before the blaster quit. I will take it and the other frame to a local shop where they will clean them with a better sand blaster. I need to order some parts so I will update totals when they get here.

Looks good! Did you paint the dash yourself? (ie: the blue and the chrome?)
Mine is ok but I really like the way yours came out.... I, too, was going to tackle the A/C vent install because people said there were perforated lines behind the dash... You and I know that ain't true! ![]() Not sure if I want to attempt the cut but I really like the way the dash pops... Mine seems a bit dull... |

I can tell you that original dash bezels do have marks in the plastic indicating where to make the cut.
I have an extra bezel that is from a non AC car and you can clearly see it marked in the plastic |

My bezel is one of the repops and it didn't have the marks that I could see. I made a template from an old A/C bezel and used it to make the cut.
It and the rest of the interior hard parts are with the car to be painted.

Red: Can you post a pic of these reference marks? I have a 66 GTO a/c dash as well as the original dash from my 67 Tempest and I do not see any marks at all... maybe I'm overlooking something
fyrffytr1: Your bezel is a repop? I guess that's why it looks so good! Nice job on the resto btw, I looked at yours before I started mine... Inspirational... However, now that I'm knee deep, you may be on "my list" LOL j/k...
