I love when parts are delivered!
Bought a set of original-ish valve covers to go on the ‘69400 that resides in my ‘63 LeMans engine bay. The previous owner put a cheesy set of chrome ones on there. Now to order the thicker valve cover gaskets, these are pretty short!
A little time in the sandblaster cabinet, and a coat or two of paint and they’ll be presentable.

I've been sidetracked with my son's new Ventura, but I did find time to put on some new Ridetech shocks. I already like them waaay better than the Bilsteins. The car feels taut but not harsh - exactly what I was looking for. Bonus that they make more clearance between the rear end and the exhaust due to the shaft being on the bottom and the body being a smaller diameter. On the front, I did have the clearance the opening in the control arms a smidge to get the bottom of the shock body up there. Not a big deal.

First oil change after about 420 miles.

Maybe I should have let it go to 421….

The magnetic drain plug had almost nothing on it so that’s a good sign. Nothing at the bottom of the drain pan I could see and not a hint of sparkle in the oil.

Also gotta give big props to my friend Mick who built the 421, hasn’t leaked a drop of oil or coolant.

In an email from the overseas shippers they casually note that the car needs to have a 1/4 tank or less of fuel. Would have really been nice to know 3 weeks ago when first contracted.

Removed the fuel line to the engine then jumpered the tank pump electrical feed to pump a half tankfull into the truck.

Never thought I would want to see a fuel gauge go down...

On the way home from cruise nite was shocked and surprised my kickdown suddenly started working in this car for the first time since I bot it - always lower on my priority list but pleased it self healed and on the cloverleaf of all places lol...

I bled the front brakes on the 69 GTO. My daughter was the pusher. She's getting close to being on the road after 26 years.

Restoring the grills and surrounds on my 67 GTO. Grills have been cleaned and polished. Have the nose and lower support at the blasters to get paint removed. Should get them in paint by next week. Drove to auto parts store to pick up and oil filter housing gasket....said it was in stock online. Got there (15 mile drive) and it wasn't. Had to order.

Not Pontiac: after several mismatched parts from O’Reily’s I ordered the steering rack and lines for my 87 Mustang from Late Model Restoration. Parts came in yesterday and went right in. I screwed around with the crappy no name parts for hours last weekend and the LMR kit went right in with zero issues. Bled the system and checked for leaks today.

58 Bonneville: stopped by the paint shop to drop off the ‘58 color chips as we are trying to match Redwood Copper which is a one year only Pontiac only color. Hopefully have sample spray outs next week. The top and side spear are already white.

97 Trans Am WS6: new plugs, wires, fuel tank and pump. Fires right up and idles great. Ordered the dash cover and upper dash pad last night. Hoping to have it ready for paint so I can drop it off when I pick up the 58 in a few weeks.

I built a harmonic balancer spanner wrench for the two piece version so I can remove and install the crankshaft hub bolt from the front of the car. I used a 1" angle iron from an old bed frame bent into a hex shape. After welding, I made the threaded posts and bolted them onto the frame. Testing was a success.

Nothing really. I got 10 stitches and a broken index finger, so not wrenching for another week or two., after the splint comes off.
My Duplicolor DE1610 showed up yesterday for my LeMans engine build, but that’s it.

Got the 5.0 finished up and off the lift, painted the calipers ford gray (previous owner installed brembo’s off of a caddy and they still said Cadillac) and installed a 1” intake spacer to help with the throttle cable binding on the tall valve covers. The car drove great today. As of right now I’m about $7500 into the car which I feel very comfortable with.

69 GTO- was shuffling the cars around so I pulled the GTO out, cleaned it up and drove it for a bit. After a few miles the flat spots on the tires smoothed out and it drove pretty well. Still feels a little loose in the rear, like some bushings corroded or something. That and re-wrapping the endura front are next on the list. Other than the front the orange wrap has held up pretty well. I would do it again.

Since I had all of the cars out of the shop to scrub down the floors I cleaned up the 69 TA clone and took it out. The car is still violent as hell. It may be time to put power steering on this one…..

Here is a pic of the 5.0, the orange peel gets a little better each time I buff it. Knowing it’s such a cheap paint job I’m hesitant to wet sand it.

294 miles on the 67 GTO today. The car performed flawlessly. There was a lot of 80+ mph cruising on the NYS thruway. The car stays with traffic without a problem with the 5 speed OD....80 is about 2500rpm. 105 is about 3200-3300rpm....I would guess.....

Went to another local show here and ran into a guy that may have some 15" honey's for sale...sometimes that is the best way to find parts when they come out of the woodwork...lol

Also black car that parked beside me reminded me of my glory days and the 76 fb...classic

Nothing on the Pontiac, but didn’t want the stitches in my finger to get dirty, so paid my son to play grease monkey, and get the oil changed on my Duramax. I just sat in my comfy chair at the bench and shot the bull with him. I like this!

I restored my pedals and rear license plate bracket. Soon this 70 will have the 3rd pedal it never had! 👍🏻

Of course I finally found the gas pedal once I’d already finished these guys… there’s always tomorrow!
