i still think 71 are the best...(just kidding....or am i??)
but i like both 68s and 69s..im just more partial to 69s...i personally think its the APEX...they just got it right...they refined the 68 and made the 69s better...but i will say a chrome nosed GTO with a ram air motor and a stick shift does make my shorts tight in the front..i'm just sayin'....

X2....
The black flamed 69 behind the GP dirt car (in my signature picture below) was the best older GTO I owned. The lights in the bumper of the 68s were a rust nightmare in the northern states, after less than 5 years the tailights were junk and really tough to keep working. I only owned a 68 LeMans, but it was the same car as the GTO with less engine of course. The basic design flaws were the same. Since my 69 was mildly customized it also had the endura delete bumper option, done by my friend that did the body work and paint. He grafted a dechromed 68 tempest bumper to the 69 front fenders so there was no seam if you look closely. One of the later owners of the car wrecked it and it pushed the solidly welded fenders back over the doors. Nice look, but not practical in a collision................... I never planned on wrecking it so it worked for me.

My first was a '69 (auto) and since then, I have had two '68s (one four-speed and one 4-speed converted to an auto). '69s were my favorite, now it appears to be the 1968. I wouldn't "step on a '69 to get to a '68" (thanks Tony H.), but I voted '68. I struggled a bit as I vote. As I see it, either way we all win as they were both winners.

68's
Currently have both, a 68 and 69. The 68 convert has lots of nostalgia for me and have owned a few. The 69 is moth balled and far from being a runner/driver. So for now I'll say the 68's, more so for their uniqueness, i.e. wing windows, dash appointments and other irregularities.

John, I can't remember, is your 69 RAIII car 4spd or auto?

Wow...it's a dead tie. I have to say that's surprising. I thought it would be a '69 runaway.

I've noticed something over the years on eBay and other sites; 69 GTO's are many times more present in the market place compared to 68 but with the LeMans its the exact opposite, way more 68's than 69's.
In both cases the 68's had 10-20% greater production than 69.

47 to 49 in favor of the '68.
Wow, just wow. Never would have thought the '68s would be just as popular as the '69s, at least in this poll. Nice to see.

Me either. I would have predicted as much as 2 to 1 in favor of the '69.

People like the cars that they have and there a lot of '68s out there. '69s are far superior.
