Car finally made it back to the transmission shop. As pretty much everyone predicted, his 'fix' (longer rear piston apply pin) did not fix the problem. He is dropping the pan and
checking some more stuff again... Just thought I'd post an update. Also, would like to point out another problem that I had missed before. I knew something wasn't right in drive, but had a hard time putting my finger on it. Here it is; when driving 60 my rpms are at ~2500rpm, when I let completely off the throttle it drops to around 2k (normal), BUT then after 10 seconds or so the rpms drop to near idle level between 1k and 750rpm (Idle set at 750rpm). The other symptom that I've already mentioned, but I'll post again here to get them together... Manual low does not engine brake. Manual Low works fine when throttle is on, but when throttle is let off the engine drops to idle speed (free wheels). |

Not sure anyone really cares anymore... but here are the results.
No problem was found, but I talked him into replacing the valve body and it fixed it. He had the pan off 4 different times... What a pain in the butt, however he didn't charge me anything for the 'repair' (warranty). I'm just glad to get it back and working correctly. |

Sounds like someone did the ole "let's make 1 good valvebody out of these 2 valvebodies" yet did not know that the Valves can be different diameters...and you cannot tell unles you can check BORES & Valves.
Happened to me, so I had to trash about 4 suspect valvebodies just to assure Zero-Defects in my parts shelf. |
