Man they just started putting the magazine out every month instead of bi monthly and just like GM, when they start getting it right, they discontinue it.........................

They're tired of hearing complaints.......seems like they kinda set themselves up for complaints seeing what they did to us. WTH did they expect? I guess they really are out of touch with what makes Pontiac people, Pontiac people. We don't follow like sheep, we're different in our personalities and we do know what we like and dislike.

prior to the change from pontiac enthusiast to auto enthusiast, this was the only pontiac specific magazine I was subscribing to (other than smoke signals included in my poci membership).

When I examined the first issue of auto enthusiast, sure I guess the noble thing to do would be to provide constructive suggestions to amos to help improve the product, but to me the decision was, when my subscription comes up for renewal, will I renew my subscription to auto enthusiast. I had to conclude that nothing that I could reasonably expect amos to change about auto enthusiast would make me consider renewing my subscription.

So my priorities are what is best for me and best for the pontiac hobby. I immediately signed up for a subscription to high performance pontiac. This action for me is to do what little I can to see that what just happened to PE doesn't happen to HPP.

I recently received my first issue and only found one article of interest to me, From Akron With Love about Arlen Vanke's Pro Stock duster. I grew up in Akron, OH. and used to visit Arlen's shop on a frequent basis. Familiar with all of the drag cars he built and drove.

I like others am very disappointed with the end of Pontiac Enthusiast magazine and will subscribe to Pontiac Performance when my subscription ends, as nothing I have seen in the replacement mag is of interest to me.

I doubt the contacting Amos would do any good, as they have never answered any previous emails I have sent to them.

I dont know.......... I just go down to my local Barnes and Noble; grab all the car mag's I like and: sit in one of these cozy padded chairs for a few hours - maybe even have a coffee and bagel.

Sure, once in awhile I'll buy a mag because there's an article I'd like to have and/or reread.

One of the reasons magazines go out of business, or condense like P.E. did Just buy the subscriptions they're usually a decent price

".....Just buy the supscriptions..."

No thanks. Hey, I read entire books at B&N over a couple of winter days.

If they're so dumb to make it easy to read - WTH.

Although, one store around here has removed most of the padded chairs........

Well I got my first issue and like the rest of you I had no interest. With 100% negative response to the first issue I wonder if AMOS will even attempt to change the format in the coming months. They were smart enough to pull the bait and switch on us lets see if they will be smart enough to do something with this rag.

Glad to see you understand how the economy works.

And people wonder why companies go out of business.

I got this piece of crap in the mail a few weeks ago. It pisses me off that I JUST renewed Pontiac Enthusiast for 2 years back in April. So yea...I get another year and a half of this garbage.

I remember buying a bunch of back issues of GTO Enthusiast directly from Pete McCarthy back in 1996 at the GTOAA Nationals here in Denver. I remember calling Pontiac Enthusiast to change my address years ago and Pete's wife took my call.

It really sucks that a big publishing company took something that people worked so hard on and ruined it. Hopefully HPP won't suffer the same fate. I sure won't renew this piece of crap.

Gee Jeremy, whatever could you mean? Just because they pay someone to write, print, buy supplies etc. doesn't mean that you should have to pay for these things Besides, that 10-20 you pay for a magazine subscription could buy almost a 1/4 tank of gas...instead of a years' worth of magazines!

Goatless:

Maybe these mags need to reconsider B&N as a retailer, or their distributors need to.
Or maybe they need to bag their mags like many others.

Most retailers don't welcome you to read the mags - in fact, most simply dont allow it.

It's the course of least resistance............

HR CC and PHR you can get for ~10/ year, I think Hemmings MM too...the Pontiac mags were a little more("specialty" ones usually are) so 40 for those 4, plus another 35-40 for 2 more, so $80 for 72 magazines isn't too bad...I read them in the throne room and on the train. What about when they close up the rest of these because people are too cheap to buy them? Then we have a couple left if we're lucky? Or just online stuff? I don't take my laptop on the train(anymore).

You know the reality of this is that newspapers, mags, periodicals are dieing due to the entity we're now communicating on. Information today is readily available, free and sites like PY provide just about all a guy wants to know, or find out, about his Pontiac.

Sure, there are editorials in the mags.............but there's a whole lot of guys that will provide you theirs for free here too!

I doubt if any of us in this conversation were so serious about the topic to warrant a remark like that..............

The reality of this is that newspapers also pay reporters to go out and get the news. Now, where do you think a lot of the online sites, people on the radio etc. get their news from? Same newspapers that people are paying for. Now, if the newspapers die out totally, who is going to pay the reporters to go out and get the news? Do you think google is going to pay reporters in every large city to get the local news? No. I like reading the different car mags because I do like to see what people are doing with other makes even though Pontiacs are my true car love(however I will not subscribe to Amos again after this mess they caused). Plus the stories of the cars and owners history can be interesting. I do like hearing people on PY tell the story about their car, how they got it, family ties etc. but I am not going to start going to every other hobbiest site. Think about it, can you go to a Chevy, Ford, AMC, MOPAR, Studebaker, Hupmobile, hot rod/custom sites etc. etc. etc that you get laid out between the popular mags? I suppose if you have nothing else going on in your life...but I'd rather get my magazine in the mail, and read about them as I can.

It may just be a signed cap, but to me it is priceless, each time I look at it reminds of meeting Jim W. in person and rekindles the dream that maybe someday I will have a gto to go drive around in while wearing the cap
