The article was almost correct but they forgot to take in to account that even though there were only 4807 GTO's there were 200,000 of the Lemans that used the same 1/4's same door panels & almost all the same trim items as the GTO which is a big reason for them to repop a lot of the items that we need for our car. So with the exception of a few trim items they have 200K + cars to make car parts for. That just the math so they don't have the excuse not to make parts we need.

The excuse is that they would not sell many of those parts due to their populatity or should I say the lack of.

I agree on the 69 vrs. 68 tail lights...much nicer, imo.
In addition, I could never really get past this image for the 71/72's front end (having owned both years).... ![]()

I like the 65 the best of the 64-67 years and the 70 the best of the 68-72 years....
But the older I get, the more I like ALL of them, since you seldom see any of them anymore.... The 65 overall. The 64-67 styling I prefer, it should have been refined instead of changed completely in 68...like they do nowadays...my opinion the 68 should have appeared around 1972...but the idiots running Pontiac by then were clueless... DeLorean should have kicked Ed Cole in the teeth. Cole was a car guy, but nothing compared to DeLorean..... Can you imagine the 64 GTO's with radial tires AND disc brakes??? It could have happened, Cole nixed them both.......
