Trim rings were optional on a '70 T/A. You'll need to check the PHS to see if this car came with them or not. The ones in the pics look like the correct style for the '70-'72 Rally IIs.

They do look better without them, though, if the car still has it's JW wheels.

If you don't have the correct wheels I would definitely use the trim rings.

Personally, I lean toward t-rings on white cars and deleted on blues.

Default LORD OF THE TRIM RINGS

were trim rings standard or optional on 1972 T/A'S (I guess standard)...I prefer Honeycombs so I got a nice set and I did eventually give into P.Y. peer pressure and remove them ( one less shark nibble) but I DO LIKE THEM as that is how the factory photos show (with out)...does anyone know why they came trimringless when they first came out?...obviously they were designed for them and the wheels got them eventually ...by the way I try not to sell parts but I have a mint set of the O.E.M. 15x7 Honeycomb rims that were only mounted once (never driven)...you would get 5 for $150 and that would include shipping and I will post a photo on my thread...I know I SHOULD PLACE A SALE ad but I just thought of this so PM if interested...although repops are available so and I just wanted to offer an option as some guys are purists!!!

I will get the trim rings off and check the codes tonight. I have to blast them and paint them. Then I will let the owner decide what way he wants them. He is the original owner of the car so I will ask him if he remembers if the car had trim rings when he bought it. I personally like them with out.

Rob I received the bracket for the lower valance panel.... thank you very much. A great thing about being apart of these forums, everyone is so helpful.

The car has 3 JW wheels and one KR wheel.

I can only assume the JW coded wheels are 70 wheels and KR are 73 wheels?

The JW's were used on '70's and the KR's were used on most '71 model year cars thru the end of the '72 model year. Check the date codes on them on each side of the valve stem hole. Should be something like M0 12 29 KR which would be for Dec. 29, 1970 built KR, lots of different date codes. Would be interesting to see what your JW dates are too.

All three JW wheels had the same date code I think. I will check tonight if I get into garage.

Well the car is back from the paint shop. Time to reassemble. Then back for a final buff and stripe kit.
