I know of a Lucey Blue...HO 4 speed with with RA it was hit so hard in the 1/4 panel you could see the inside of the tire and a foot of the axle tube//left side...my buddy had it...it was real..he PHS'd it later in life because he has the pink slip and always wondered if he killed a good car.......and at that time it was hit so hard no one would fix it. it got parted...rest of the car was really nice..that was around 89 or 90 out of STL..i thought he told be 89 RA cars....but..as records are discovered i guess that changed
I ended up with the cleaner assy and put it on a 71 GTO...of course i got it from the 3rd guy past my friend...he wouldnt sell me nuttin' he was like that..

heres some pics of my HO formulas. all of them I have ever owned have been ram air cars. (lucky on the 71's I guess)
the 71 black one is the one boss posted the phs on. the 71 bronze one was originally the red orange color (cant remember the correct color name in 71) I sold it to "nocar" hunter hay on the forum here. the red one is an automatic 72, the sundance one on the trailer is a 72 4spd and the 72 yellow one is an automatic |

The black one and yellow one had spoilers. Were they on PHS? Still have the Sundance one?

I bought an engine out of an old street/race car a buddy was scrapping (4 years ago). It had 455HO (197) round ports on a '69 428 block with aluminum rods and 455 crank (clearly not original). Funny thing is it had a Formula 455 emblem on the back panel. Down the road, I started to wonder if the heads were original to the car. It was originally a copper color (I remember it from many years ago). I remember when it had a ram air hood on it back in the 80's too. It had a one piece fiberglass front clip when I pulled the engine and the car was pretty badly cut up. The floor was so badly hacked and the doors had the side beams hacked out (you can see the sides of the cowl were modified). The quarters, rear trim, spoiler, bumper, taillights and trunk lid were all that was any good and the guy who had it later cut them off and sold at a swap meet.
Unfortunately it got cut up after I pulled the engine - I never saw it again. I wish I would have grabbed a photo of the VIN and data plate. It was a shame as I remember this car was known as the fastest street car in the town I grew up in. The guy who built it I haven't seen in 15 or so years. He sold it to his younger brother in the late 80s, who then repainted it but then later ended up in jail for some type of drug possession/trafficking. Evidently the car was in a storage building for many years and the owner of the building wanted it (and all his other belongings stored there) destroyed, since they hadn't received payment in something like 10 years. I bought the engine mainly for the heads. ![]()

yes they are on the phs sheets and actually the sundance one has a rear spoiler also. you have to look really close in the picture to see it. also, the cars kinda look distorted in the pics. I recently found a stack of pics that had been stored away since I moved around 14 years ago and they kinda warped a little bit and I took a pic of the pic with my cell phone. no I have been selling them off and the only one I have left is the yellow one. I also had a green one years ago but never got a picture of it.

no that is the original paint on the car. I bought the car from a couple in Wichita ks who had bought two of them new (both HO cars. hows that for a couple with good taste in cars). this one was the wifes and she sold it to me back in around 83 or 84. her husband wouldn't let his go however.

Gary,
Thanks for the clarification. I've never seen a real Rosewood painted anything, let alone a Formula 455HO with Ram Air. So that brings the current total to: 1 Starlight Black 1 Quezal Gold (red now) 1 Cardinal Red (? not confirmed) 3 Nordic Silver 4 Blue (all Lucy?) 1 Laurentian Green 1 Rosewood 12 '71 455HO's with factory Ram Air. Wow, quit a bit of work left on that restoration. Looks like it was one of those started projects that got to much for one to handle. Gotta love the sellers marketing line "I removed the carpet on the front floor boards to show condition of the metal and it is pristine." Did I miss that picture or was I distracted for all the parts???

I sent an email to the seller to look at the car at about 4:45. I guess I should have hit the "buy it now" and asked questions later.

Looks like the buyer of the original auction last year didn't do much with it and ended up selling it for the same price he got it for, hope someone here got it this time!
