Only .25" snow this am. And heat wave at 18*. Didn't even zip my coat or wear gloves.

Southwestern Tennessee, we've got 6 inches on the ground over the last 4 days or so. We typically get 2 inches per year, so the area is completely unprepared for this much snow. When I lived in Utah, 6 inches was nothing, but here everything shut down.

Supposed to warm up starting Saturday.

When I lived in Memphis in 2001, there was a snow, 6 inches total, over 2-3 days, that lasted close to a week. Coming from Erie Pa. where I was born, and lived for close to 50 years, it was nothing to me. After 3 days most everything had melted, but people wouldn't set foot out of their homes, nor drive, even though the streets were 99.99% bare.

It was unbelievable how everything shut down, as long as there was a patch of snow that someone could see from their window, no one would move, wouldn't go to work, etc...........

We were lucky again, the freezing rain line was somewhere north and west of where I live (southwest of Raleigh). It is cold and we had some heavy rain last night, but if we had ice it was gone by 8AM.

It is cold and my ground is mush.

This may be the start of the 3-5 year cycle. Had very mild winters past few.

Those probly are large for Louisiana.
Should of took pics of ours. Knocked down 3'-4' ones 4 times now. Some 1' wide by 3"-4" thick from the elves.
What's bad is have to use a 7' pole with ice chipper. Try and break them in half 1st cause so dangerous being underneath. Then theres the footing from previous times. Chunks are under knee deep snow. Like walking on slippery rocks.

Still winter weather in Montana, but not hard core as they can be. I am in the process of buying 10 acres in New Mexico to spend winters at. 6000' elevation, but still gets 50 in January in the day. Cold at night, I don't care.

Yesterday Bham started out with a lite rain, then the sun popped out and the temp went to the low 60's. Today, the Chamber of Commerce would be proud. Sunny, blue skies and low 70's. LAST week the temp dropped down into the teens 2 mornings and Monday the 15th it did snow, but that was gone by noon. We've got a package stuck 4 blocks down the street from us at the local FedEx store. 8 days tracking shows it's there. The people on the phone say FedEx is plugged up initially because of last weeks weather (Memphis hub) and this morning because of.....plumbing issues at the hub. A bit skeptical, my brother confirmed that with a friend at FedEx.

They basically have the same weather we do here in Prescott at 5,000 feet elevation. 65 degrees here today and it's February. Our normals throughout winter are usually in the 50's for highs and 20's for lows. Very little snow that usually melts off the next day.

Coming from Montana it'll be like summer vacation for you. We came from Ohio with -20 wind chills and feet of snow, so it's easy to deal with.

My brother in law is in Ash Fork area, south west of town. Land we are waiting on close on is other end from you of the big high country plateau (Mogollon Rim and into New Mexico). Gila NF, Reserve NM. You have it right, summer vacation compared to here.
