You have a great flock of birds Bob, but the Y88 is my favorite! I've drooled on it at the Nats before and will do it again this year.

Thanks for the kind comments.
Red - Yes, as you figured out the engine and the suspension were stripped out and refurbished out of the car. I didn't liberate the subframe or disassemble the front end sheet metal. The original W72 engine is on a stand and tucked away. I pieced together a spare XX block that is stroked, 6X-4 heads with the full SD Performance port and polish job, and an original intake that was also heavily worked and cleaned up by SD. The carb is a spare with rebuild kit by Cliff, and the distributor is an aftermarket HEI. It was dynoed at Kauffman with I think 475hp and 550ft lbs peak.      Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I'm sure the Glasgo's will do a great job for you. They are real professionals and very skilled. I'm just a traveling Coal Peddler that has a hard time doing nothing on the weekends when I'm away from my real job.

Had never heard of Glasgo, but just checked out their website. Looks like they do some nice work! Their website could use an update - their gallery links don't show any of their projects.
Red, what kind of time frame are they quoting you for a full engine bay and sub-frame restoration? BJ

Taking the car in at the end of October, and it should be done, I imagine in a couple of months or so. May walk through the TA Nationals , but without a car, this year. |

The Nats were a blast this year, with so many good memories. Great seeing all the friends from the Forum, finally meeting BJ, and making several great new friendships. The first year I took the car to the Nats it took first place in the Class C stock class. This year I entered it into the SE-1 stock class, which is for Special Edition cars from 1976 to 1979. I believe there were 9 black cars, while mine was the only Y88. We received 2nd place in class. The Concours judges, upon seeing the car, encouraged me to enter it into the Concours Unrestored judging despite the underhood restoration work. It was awarded Concours Gold in this class.
Here's a few cool pictures including HFR of PY fame serving as my "Designated Driver" to Tipp City, and the guy from Van Nuys who installed the hood birds in 1978. What a blast....     Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Bob, I am finally getting to the point where I am going to try to duplicate your parkerizing method to restore a pile of fasteners. but I was disappointed to see so many of your pictures in this thread are disappearing. Thats a bummer, this thread has been like a sub forum, its a shame to have a lot of that info/pictures disappear.
