1) This kid must have been the most popular boy on the block back in the day. I have a 40-something year old friend, with a young child, who freaked out when a relative gave her son a GI Joe for Christmas last year (she's from San Francisco, say no more). She wants no guns or military stuff to EVER get near her precious child. And if she saw this picture of a kid from the 1950's, she'd probably faint.

I can't recall what this was, but it's not the Spruce Goose, it's a 1950's Navy floatplane. Interesting that you can see color discs on the wingtips, so I'm not sure if they were shooting film when they were doing this.

Below is the reply I received from friend who is a long-time Packard collector upon seeing the Quaker State ad with the 1950's show cars.

The Chrysler Ghia was the only car I didn't recognize right off the bat, but I admit, I have a passion for these 50's concept cars. They all seem so weird, so "Jetsons", back in a time when style was first, practicality and economy were second. Boy, how times have changed in America...

I definitely think Mercury (and Lincoln) stole the rear window sliding glass, which I believe came out in 1958 on those big Mercury Turnpike models.

I think since Packard was on their last legs, the Detroit Big 3 figured they could steal whatever they wanted from Packard. Packard used to be one the finest cars in America, up there with Cadillac, but post-WWII years were not kind to them. Packard was also a key player in helping us win WWII.

This is a weird one.....1962 Studebaker concept car!
