Not that I've got anything against running on rural roads- I just wouldn't expect any photographic record!
Looks like a old shot at Mason Dixon in Boonsboro,MD..outside Hagerstown,MD...

Does anyone know anymore about this car? I grew up hearing about this car. I'm pretty sure it is from the SW Virginia area.

Thanks

Troy, my Dad match raced this car at Mason Dixon in 1962. I think this photo is from Louisa Dragway in SW Virginia. Last night I Googled the sponsor painted on it's quarter panel, "Atlantic Coast Exterminating". They are located in Stafford VA. which is near I-95. So, possibly the car is from the Stafford area?

Interesting......Don't know why but I never ran a M/D dragway "back then"..I started going there with the OPDS back in 2002..
I think member Gallopin' Goat lives in Stafford..

Has anyone heard of a guy named Bill Forbes and his brother that used to race roundy round in a '64 GTO? I think he raced in the 60's and early 70's in Illinios. I'm looking for a picture or information on the where abouts of the GTO. Thanks

From a thread over on the hamb. Quote. I'm happy to confirm that indeed the car does survive! A couple of friends and I got to see the car in person this past weekend. John finally let the car go to his good friend Alan Hougardy, a talented and competitive drag racer (runs a 6 second Fuel Altered), that have been best friends since high school. It went to the right guy, as Alan plans on restoring the car back to it's former glory, straight axle, Dick Lewis Pontiac Olympia livery, Pagan Gold paint and all. His plans are to install a potent injected Pontiac mill and race it! Cool dude.

These are pics of pics I took a few weeks ago. Both cars belonged to a family friend. He built the roadster in the early 60s as a drag/street racer and then built the Fiat as a drag car in the mid 60s i'm guessing. Both were run at Pittsburgh International Dragway which is where these pics appear to have been taken.
I don't know much about them except that the Fiat was turning mid 10s with a sbc. I spent a lot of time in his garage as a kid back in the 60s since he and my dad were good friends. He was also the 'The guy to beat' on the street back then with his sbc powered 36 Ford coupe which he still has.
He is now in his early 80s but still very active with hot rods. I need to go see him someday.
