It's not a rumor! Got it from a VERY reliable source last night and it looks like we have a winner. Don't wanna name names but it's initials are SD!!!!!!

Glad to see the great Dyno numbers of the SD!

Time will tell if the 17hp is enough to over come the extra weight they have to carry.....200lbs vrs. 17hp..... My bet is it will be a very good race. By the way can you fellows tell me how many total SD's were built? Wasn't it on the order of 400 or so cars in 73-74? Best reguards Kirk

A combined total of 1296 SD455's were installed in 1973 and 74 F body cars.

What's the total of 455HOs in 71/72 F-bodies? I dont have the numbers handy but I'd imagine about 3 times as many.

and real easy and inexpensive to restore, and the parts are free, too! ;-)

I found the #s on the 455HO T/As: a total of 3,402 in 71/72. Dont know how to get numbers for the 455HO Formulas though -can't be that many. So for the T/As it's a little less than 3x the SDs.

OK, so that adds up to 5,804 total 455HOs for the 2 years, vs 1,296 for the 2 years of SD - about 5x the SD production. I feel so plain and common now. :-(
