Thanks Ron,

I'm already in for a set of O-ports with 2.5" collectors. If you can't get a pic with the Z-bar in place, you will have one within a day of receiving my headers. Drop me an email when you are ready to ship.

Thanks,

Steve

Tunnelport,
Since no one else has jumped in to answer, I thought I'd tell you how I understand it. A nationally known header manufacturer recently used my '64 to fit some new style headers they were developing. As I understand it, when they fit the headers to my '64 there were clearance problems when they did a trial fit on a '68 -- something about the crossmember being wider on the '68 and the engine sitting differently. So I suppose in answer to your question, if it fits and '68 and later, it will fit a '67 and earlier, not vice versa.
Tim

Ron,
After test fitting your headers on the 68 A-body, what is the outlook for RAV headers on the 68-72 A body?

OK Ron:

I've been watching this thread since it started, and I'm convinced!

I'll be sending you an e-mail. Please count me in for a set of thermal coated round ports with the 2.5" collector.

Thanks!

OK guys set me straight so I can set this up. I have heard that if you build a set on one year body then it will fit all A-bodys 64'-72' & if you use the other year it wont fit all years. So Which way is right?

If you have a set of headers for a 64' GTO then they fit all A-bodys

Or

A set for 70's will fit all A-bodys

Jim I'm still trying to find someone that has a loaner car that I can set my R/A V heads in to start the designing. I have my Formula to do the V's on for 2nd gen birds but I have to sell the 455 in it fist.

Hi guys,
From this angle it looks like a tight fit for the #6 bolt. I was told it's not as tight as it looks. I made sure that they were designed with these things in mind:
#1 The headers are made from 14 gauge steel rather than the thinner 16 gauge that the original H O's were. #2 They have 3/8 flanges for better gasket seal. #4 The starter & oil filter are easily accessible.#5 They install easily since not everyone has access to a hoist & must resort to jack stands. #6 Make #'s 5 & 6 header bolts easy to reach. #7 Clearance around A-arms & steering column to keep from having to put any major dents in tubes & not lock up steering like the 1st D-ports had done on 4-speed cars. #8 fit both auto & 4-speed cars. #9 Be offered in both the original 2 & 1/2"collector & a 3"collector, for those of you who think bigger is better & have expressed that in previous posts. #10 All while offering maximum ground clearance over any other header while providing outstanding performance.
Now I will have to say that I did fail in one spot & that's # 10. The 3" collector will be 3/4" below frame & the 2 & 1/2 collector will be around 1/4" to 1/2 below the frame. Sorry but with all the improvements listed that's the best outcome we could get. Witch is still a lot more clearance than any 4 tubed header clearance. Like I said before I only wanted to make available a well made, quality header that I would want to buy for my own car & this is it.
I'll try to get more pics soon to post. But now for the price, the original selling price was $389 a set, before the additional setup & redesigning cost & price of steel went up among other things. The selling price is as follows 2 & 1/2" collector = $425 set & $445 with 3" collector. For ether O or D-port. If you want them thermal coated its $185 extra.

Thanks Ron

Yes, my car does not have AC, but I was told that with the AC compressor in place. That its almost impossible to get to the 2nd bolt on the pass side. So it would make it much easier to install by moving it till the header is bolted in place. Also on the pass side motor mount, if it has a tab or ear on it. Then you need to remove the ear or tab so it wont hit the header.
Other than that they basically slid in place. I have another concern that we're working on for the drivers side & will confirm it by Mon.

Ron

Well said Larry. I'm signed up with Ron for a set. I'm pretty exited to get my mitts on a set when they are done. Looks like Ron is sweating the details. Nice job and thanks Ron!
