Man that sucks! Unfortunately I can relate. My '69 Lemans was hit in the side last year by an unmanned Kia that rolled from another parking lot.
I got it fixed without a nickel out of pocket, however the insurance co. is only going to want to pay to fix the damaged area. They want to pay the absolute minimum. Do you have classic car insurance on it? What I ended up doing was have Hagerty (my insurance co.) pay to get it fixed and then they collected from her insurance. That route saved me a whole lot of headaches. Best of luck to you. I hope you get her back as good as new.

I've decided that part of what is going on here is that although my bodyguy is very capable of repairing the quarter by reshaping the metal, in actuality, he really doesn't want to have to do it. So I'm going out to find a new bodyshop that is willing and capable of taking on the job. Anyone out there have any advice on what kind of equipment the bodyshop should have if they're to do this job right? Any other questions I should ask? Many thanks to all of you for your help on this.

You might want to talk to this guy first about finding your Panel.

Tony
I'll see if I can find the floppy disc, of my bird at first. I'll post a pic or two of what the quarters looked like, before I straightened them [This message was edited by Marty Phipps on March 15, 2004 at 09:40 AM.]

Frank, looks like you've uncovered a mess with your restoration. Hey, send that six-five down here; my guy will get it straigtened out.
Here's the best part: He pulled out the crushed in door handle, straightened the quarter, is wet sanding the roof, both doors, decklid, other quarter and tailpanel, reapplying 8 coats of clear (then sanding off 3) and putting it all back together for $5200!

Glad to see you're going to fix rather than replace it. This may sound funny, but try a dealership in your search. I used to work for a dealer that has some good body men. Some of those guys would love to do a job like that. Especially European dealers, because they seem to do more metal work than bondo in my experience.

Urhere2, you have mail. Many thanks for your offer. If it turns out to be inconvenient for you don't go way out of your way. I really appreciate your help and the help of everyone on this board. We really need a giant "Performance Years Get Together" sometime for everyone on the board (in Texas, of course).
