It was a fake license plate that Kurt was hosting for us to have on our profiles, I forgot about it, they must be gone.

to an American company employing American workers. I could have bought one of the much cheaper aluminum radiators off of ebay and judging from your cheap-skate attitude towards the publishers and employees of magazines and books, I wish I would have. I'll be sure and tell my friends so they won't give you anymore business either. |

61-63:
I work for Griffin and not in sales. My motive, and my ONLY motive, was to set up a win-win for both Griffin and the members of this forum. I personally receive absolutely NO benefit(s) from Griffin for any of the rads sold. If you dislike me, and/or my spending habits, thats fine.

Sure you do. What would you do for work if Griffon sold no radiators? It all rolls downhill...

My guess is that Amos has TONS of content sitting on the shelf that they can throw at Auto Enthusiast. I'm thinking that articles take anywhere from six months to a year to make it from showfield to printed page, so even if they kept ALL the magazines, they could keep publishing without much development time for at least six months.
Now add that they are cramming a ton of titles into one omnibus rag, they could probably continue to crank out the magazine for several years with only updates in the news portion and editorial content. I suppose the best way to determine the future health of the magazine will be to see if there are stringers out there taking photos and interviewing folks at the various shows. Granted many will be free lancers, but they may tell you if they are looking to put their content into Auto Enthusiast or some other publication. One thing I did notice was on their Statement of Circulation in the Jan 10 Issue, their Average Annual Press Run was 19,370, but that had dropped to 12,094 at publication time, which I think is in October 09. Their PAID subscription rate had dropped from 9,724 to 7,395 in the same statement. That kind of drop is unsustainable. Last edited by graycav56; 11-30-2010 at 10:36 AM. |

Agreed! Club politics aside, you can't beat SS and the excellent job Don Keefe and his crew are doing.
EDIT/ADDENDUM: As a business owner and ADVERTISTER, this thread has been very informative.

I just did some more snooping on their circulation figures (slow day at the office) and see that they had issues (pun intended) across the board.
Now figures can lie as we all know, but this is what I surmise based on some of their USPS statements. They usually put these in the Dec or Jan issues. Magazine Press Run Paid Subscriptions Pontiac 19370 9724 12094 62.44% 7395 76.05% Corvette 19542 11145 11642 59.57% 8661 77.71% C&P 24551 20484 21426 87.27% 18493 90.28% Mopar 20432 10112 8223 40.25% 5787 57.23% Mustang 14391 5477 5220 36.27% 3581 65.38% Muscle Car 17736 9830 9002 50.76% 7092 72.15% The upper number represents their average figure for the preceding 12 months. The lower number is the number for month closest to filing date. As you see, Cars and Parts was their most steady title (also their most expensive) holding at a 90% rate. Mopar for some reason was getting crushed. You can tell the company was trying to get their press run aligned more closely with paid subscriptions, with Pontiac going up from 50% to 61%, Corvette up over 17%, C&P up less than 3%, Mopar up 21%, Mustang up over 30% and Muscle Car up 23%. I'm NOT a publishing professional, so I suppose newsstand sales may skew this somewhat. SORRY GUYS, BUT I CAN'T GET THESE COLUMNS TO LINE UP! Last edited by graycav56; 11-30-2010 at 11:29 AM. |

I got I think my second issue in the mail today. I will be canceling my suscription also. The only pontiac content is the advertising. There's a Mopar section, Ford section, Chevy section....Mmmmmmm Pontiac??? They took my $ for the renewal, they knew I suscribed to a Pontiac publication. It'd be nice to give me what I paid for.

Got my 2nd issue today. Glossed over it. Classics section has a Chevelle in it, even though there is already a Chevy section up front...and a 1930 Chrysler. The only Pontiac info is on the restoration of old spinner hubcaps. I gave it to one of the young guys in my office.

Amazing...you look at their own figures... PE was the 2nd most popular subscribed mag, and theres no Pontiac stuff in the new mag.....what marketing genius came up with that?

because I heard that PE was being converted to Auto Enthusiast. Guess what showed up in the mail today - the new AE issue. I wonder if they are trying to get me to sign up by sending me a complimentary copy? I was not impressed with the content.
