I hear ya. Scott sells it by the quart, so there should be enough left over to do another whole motor!

Steve knows these cars inside and out, but his is the first HO that I've restored. Any comments on correctness are appreciated and easily changed now!

The problem at the Nationals is not judging, it's teching the cars for class placement. Those guys don't have a clue and play by the "good ole boys" rules.

Tech question here (splitting hairs I know): Is the master cylinder all black? In other words, is it painted after the machined surfaces are cut in, and after the stamped letters stamped in? So all of the unit is black, including the machined surfaces and the valleys of the stamped letters? Told you I'd split a hair or two

Thanks Brew. We redid the engine paint after getting the engine over to Steve's shop. The color just wasn't quite right. Ended up using Scott Tieman's paint for it. I think Greg had requested that the heads be painted that way to replicate burn-off, but I didn't choose to go that way when we repainted.

Tim is right. This is a pet peeve of mine. Instead of carrying a wire brush and touch up kit around re-coating the black enamel burns, I prefer to just have the hot spots not painted at all. That's Hirsch high heat Cast Iron primer under the color coating.The blue fades from color to just ghosted or none over the hot spots of the heard. This one could have used some more paint in the spark plug areas and the leading edge of the head where the casting date is, but since we knew the engine was going to be repainted, there was no need.

These pictures are taken after 4 hours on a dyno and no touch up kit applied This keeps your hands free to admire the dyno results of 466HP/535ft lbs torque in one hand and a cold one in the other. Way to go Jim Robertson!

Also, I'm needing some interior parts for this car if anyone has an interest in selling:

1. Need a pair of really clean lower door panels. Any color will do. 72-77 are the same.
2. I need a really nice formula steering wheel.

The master cylinders where machined after painting which was one light coat of paint. There are or where part numbers above the forward outlet in small font that had 5-6 numbers. I have pictures of an original along with other pics of units that have rust in those areas.
Those machined surface areas had surface rust while the rest of the unit still sported paint. That tells the story of the process and how to reproduce it.

I have pictures however Im in Omaha on business and have no access at the present time.
