You got to love the car restoration hobby to put up with this much fun. Murphy's law is always in effect.............. ask me how I know. Your Poncho will be fantastic when you get it on the road, your head will swell with pride and your hands will be unable to hold the steering wheel because of al the tape and Band-Aids that keep you from bleeding to death

Thank You for the info.
I was looking in the Ames catalog and seen that
They have them too. Plus the throttle linkage I
need to and the price is awesome so
that's where I'll be getting that stuff at.
I've got some nuts and bolts to paint yet and
after I get the fuel lines and linkage I'll be able
to fire this puppy up. Hopefully the motor should
be going back in the car pretty soon.

We got fire in the hole with the 347 motor.
I just hooked up the center carb to my electric pump
that I use for the test stand until I get the new fuel
lines. I didn't get to run it very long cause I need to
get some more gas in my can. It sounded pretty good
for the 5-seconds that it did run. I'm excited to get back
on it again tomorrow and run it long enough to break in
the cam. Shouldn't be long before I'm driving this thing.

Hope to pretty soon Todd.
Here are some pictures of the motor on the test stand.
I got all the vacume leaks fixed so the motor will idle down now.
I hope the fuel lines don't leak, We'll see tomorrow. enjoy.

With as beautiful as the rest of the engine looks, do you intend to clean up the distributor cap, brackets and wires?

For what it's worth, on the wires, I have had good luck with a rag soaked with Simple Green followed by a water-wetted rag rinse, then a wipew down with some sort of 'tire shine' product.

Man this motor has been giving me fits trying to get it running write.
First I thought it was a vacume leak then thought the center carb
was the issue then maybe the dissy so I blocked off the two end
carbs that wasn't it redid the center carb with other parts. It started
getting better still not write though so I put a sosposidly rebuilt
dualpoint in it, It would idle but not rev so I grab another points dizzy
that didn't work either. So I'm scratching my head and frustrated with
this thing. I grab another dizzy with a pertronix and put that in without
the end carbs. There still blocked off so no vacume leak.
I turn the key and it fires rite up and idles perfect revs great (Finally)
So I hook up the radiator fill it with water and run it for a while it sounds
great now so finally I can get the motor down in the car. I've got to flush
The original radiator and the lower heater core under the driver seat and heater
lines. Things are finally looking good. I still have to change the gas tank but
that should be pretty easy.
So maybe soon I'll be driving this thing.
I'll keep ya posted.

I've got a pair in chrome. I am told they are the original 57 valve covers and are somewhat rare.

The 57 is up and driving.
Got it out last Saturday for a couple short drives and sunday I put 140 miles on it.
I have been driving it all week as a daily driver and having a blast.
I'll get some more pics up soon.
This car turned out to be a lot more car than I expected it to be. I mean this thing
Is a super nice automobile.
