The aggressive pre-cancerous ones that were found in me 3 years ago, my doc said 5 years and it would have been cancer. But supposedly they were of the very aggressive type. BTW I was 47 at the time. Going in again next Friday for another round, will report back.

I got checked last week, both ends. Doc said colon was normal but do have an acid reflux ulcer at bottom of esophagus, got a prescription for it.

but my mom (79) drove herself to the hospital last Friday PM (3 days ago) because the ole physics was not right. Surgury the very next AM, and i'm visiting mom right after surgery.
well, the blockage was due to some stuff that a colonoscopy could not reach. Buldge in the middle where the diphram is was a new clue for her. Thankfully she doesn't need one of them baggies hew: they removed a section and said it was a best-case scenario for mom. Mom has to recover from surgery, so she's not happy. Think she rather go quietly in the noght or something like the grumpy old men were referring to with the "lucky bastard" W. Matthau & Jack Lemmon referred to.

The point is; the problem can occur farther upstream then the colonoscopy typically goes (or i missed the doc's explanation).
Any insight on that sort of incidence?

Sounds like she had a SMALL bowel obstruction, HIS. A colonoscopy visualizes the LARGE bowel.

Yep.....just went through that deal this past January !!!
Very painful experience for me and I have endured a bunch!!
Fortunately did not require surgery. Just mucho pain killer,NPO,and I V water..a week of hell!
I actually called 911 as I am a bachelor as pain hit at 2:30AM..
Wish her a get well HIS..

FWIW: A doctors time span recommendation is just that...if you don't feel right....get it checked !!

Had my physical Thurs. and got blood work results today. Everything is good, but he thought my cholesterol was slightly high thus I should lose 10 to 20 lbs. and go on a low cholesterol diet.
(OK – knew that, but how can you beat a $1 Mcdouble )


Did not even have to bring up the subject of getting scoped.
He asked me about my family history and once I told him that my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 55, he told me that he giving me a referral and told me to get scoped.

He told me his view is age 50 or 10 years before the age any immediate family member was diagnosed with any type of cancer and I am 46.

So I have to check this week who is in network and get it scheduled.

It's called a "hiatal hernia." Surgery can be painful because the esophagus is hard to expose to repair.

Wents to urologist Tue checking PSA level which was high 7 before. Down yesterday to 5.HE said everthing ok see you in 6 mos. Was concerned about being high he said some are high naturally. I wonder. GET a checkup Bob.

"Finally" got mine done Friday. I procrastinated 'till I was 51. One polyp removed.

Had mine done yesterday. Upper and lower. 1`st colonoscopy at 50 yrs. old. Hiatal hernia was found and possible short Barrett`s esophagus. 5 polyps were removed from colon. 3, 4mm. and 2, 5mm. polyps. 4 benign and 1 for biopsy. Will find out in 7 to 10 days on results.

Mom is a STG 4 cancer patient. So, we all are considered higher risk.

You missed the explanation. A colonoscopy visualizes the entire large bowel, which is only about 6' in length.
