im going to say gto because of the fenders and quarters. the hood change was probably for the mural of the tiger to lay flat

FWIW, I bet there are plenty of people that have no idea of what I'm referencing when I say Stratostreak V8 engine. If you look at the neon sign in the window of picture posted (#8) by Jeff Hamlin, you'll see that in fact this was the official name for the Pontiac V8, which started in 1955.

I designed this shirt from the sign, and the valve cover script on the 1955 Stratostreak engine.

Stratostreak is the correct name given by Pontiac to our beloved Pontiac V8, so if you see it in these forums you know where it came from, and what it's referring to.

Be great to have an NOS neon sign like the one in the picture!!!

I see a GTO of course and I would certainly enjoy the marketing and back story about its appearance on the show, especially showing up in tiger stripes. Great picture.

Cool

It's my understanding it was built for some sort of promo.

IIRC Used on MTS related to Robbie's collage fraternity.

Notice the tail is on in one but not the other. Also, the front plate starts with GM.

Could you imagine the challenge and fun it would be to track that car down. I'm guessing you would have to find someone who was involved in product placement and promotions for CBS. Not impossible IMHO after some of the great stories I learned about finding lost cars at MCACN this weekend.

That's (somewhat) random.

Back then the Michigan license plates started with certain sequences based on geography.

Oakland County (where Pontiac Michigan and the GM Technical Center are located) started with "GA" - "HH".

Sort of like when, in modern times, the Chevrolet Engineering Center bought up a bunch of plates that started with "CEC".

But - definitely a Michigan plate on a car used in Hollywood. Mr Wangers would probably know the backstory on that (if it's not already in his book).

I'm sure Mr Wangers, or someone else at McManus would know. Heck - Tenney might even know.

Negative - that's a regular issue Michigan plate.

Example: This car is from Genesee County, so the plate should start with "KA" - "KZ"

A Michigan "M" plate has two digits, followed by the M, then the sequential portion.

I don't - be a cool one to track down, though! Another route may be via the archives of customizers who "prepped" cars for the studios ie Dean Jeffries/George Barris.
