Aside from the driver of topic.....Gordon is having a great year! His first win this season, 5 top 5's and 8 top 10's in 11 races and is 89th career win. I'm not completely sure how this year's "new points system" works but I think you have to have a win to be in the chase - so here we go!

If she managed to get 7th place, in the hands of a real driver that car would be the class of the field. She'll be back to mid 20s finishes in no time at all so don't get used to top 10 finishes. This track is much like a downsized super speedway and you'll notice the drivers that do well at Talladega and Daytona also do well at Kansas. Mostly the ,and not as much .
If you listened to her interview, I've never seen any driver talk so much and not say anything. Incoherent and looked like a deer in the headlights.

She can't provide proper feedback about her car's handling because she doesn't understand what needs to be change. If the car is perfect to her liking, like here at Kansas, or Talladega, or Daytona, she does fairly well. When it's not perfect, she's running in the back of the field. That's not the sign of a winning race car driver. Good drivers provide SO much feedback to their crew chief, and they tell them what THEY want, as they know where they can run on the track, high or low. When the setup isn't quite perfect, they can adjust their driving style, they know how to make the most of the car until the next pit stop. They can drive a poor handling car and lose very little track position. Danica can't do that. The car has to be setup in that narrow window of her driving ability, the only way she can drive, for her to have a decent day. That's why Letterman-Rahal dumped her in IndyCar. Rahal saw her inability to adjust during a race, her lack of understanding of what the car was doing. The pit crew would take swings at the suspension and wing setup, and they would be frustrated. The 'blind squirrel' theory pops up, she gets a top 3 finish, or in the case of NASCAR, she gets a great qualifying effort at a superspeedway. That's why Richard Petty said she's not a racing driver. She doesn't have what it takes to be a winner. She still may get that victory at a superspeedway, perhaps with a little extra hp or better aero than the other cars, which NASCAR would of course look the other way. Could you imagine what would happen if Danica won at Daytona this summer, and then in the post-race they found out her car was too low or had an illegal suspension part? NASCAR wouldn't do anything, they'd make excuses that her infraction was not worthy of a penalty. If it was another driver, they would fine the team, put the crew chief on probation, and dock owner and driver points.

The NASCAR Headline in USA Today Danica finishes 7th. No headline for Jeff Gordon the winner. One race does not a career make Derrick Cope and Trevor Bayne both won the Daytona 500 but that is about it for both of them. Everyone is in such a hurry to have her replace Dale Earnhardt Sr or Richard Petty that give her credit fr the most mundane of performances.

The above post was missing a couple of words and didn't make a whole lot of sense without key words. It should have read:

no but got know him through some people in Daytona. He was a very out spoken person and did alot of development for the auto industries. Brian France in my opion has screwed the sport up. They have priced the tickets out of site and the sponsorship money is crazy. Noted on the news the other day that the government may quit sponsoring do to expense and return?
