They did not attach on first try. They should be there now

Evans:

No offense but please put some tires on that car.

Also, are you missing the small filler panel between the header panel and front bumper? I think those are still available from the aftermarket houses. What's not available is the support piece behind it.

Norwood: We have a job for you!

SDD,

That car really was a catch! Congrats I am jealous...still.

Here is a more recent pic of the TA with Rally II's on it. At SD Bobs suggestion I run them at the track since they are lighter than the Honeycombs.

Gainesville was more than worth the trip!

I do, I do

My picture dissapeared for some reason, so here's a couple of my 74;

In 2006 with the Wide Oval 60's and trim rings;

And last year with radials;

Bob,

Yes those tires are tired! Will replace this spring. I think I will go to a 60's series
BFGR RA TA instead of the 70's, just to tighten her up a bit in the corners.
Filler panel is in hand; GM NOS. The car is at the paint shop now.
Is that rear-supporting piece really needed?
I am pulling motor to freshen up cosmetically and do a few other things to make her ready to drive to Nationals, just for fun.
I don't think I will have the radio changed back by then so I guess I'll be in Mod class with that and the 60 series tires.

Front-end assembly pic attached. I am hoping I still have the supporting brackets
and just the front filler is what needs to be replaced.

Evans:

The reinforcement is not required but it does add some rigidity to the piece. This would be a perfect thing for Norwood to reproduce.

Tire size will not bump you at the Nationals into Mod class. I suggest a 245/60R 15 all the way around. The radio may depending on how it is installed. Those things on the doors around the lock cylinders WILL bump you however. I assume those are coming off if not off already.

Sweet car though. Gotta love that color!

Jay: How much was Gainesville worth it? I don't see a 12 second number in your sig. Car looks great in the picture. Hope you had a great holiday and New Year.

Bob,

No 12's but did get a win in factory stock. Best it went was 13.11 off a 2.05 60'. Mph was a near best 109.64. Seems the car runs it's best ET around 1pm and its best mph after 5pm. Still chasing the 60' and this new wheel hop condition about 20' out on launch.

The new combo is well underway..just MIGHT make Martin with it!

Craig:

If you look at Evans attachment above it is #8 in the diagram. The 74-75 front bumpers have a thin filler piece between the header panel and the bumper. It is attached to the header with several small screws. There is a sheet metal backer part the gives the filler some rigidity. These are not available and are always missing. It would be a great part to have reproduced if possible. I know that I would buy a couple of them. I bet most folks don't even know it exists.

I will see if I can get a sample if you are interested in attempting it.

Do you know any history of your car, and where are you located?

Just curious because many years ago I owned a Buc Red '75 with those same '70 1/2-'72 stripes. Sold it in '90 or '91 to a guy just outside of Houston and haven't seen or heard of it since.

When I sold the car it had a non-SD block 455SD engine in it.

Attached is one old pic taken at a local drag strip back in the late '80's.

Hi Lloyd-TX,

I know... Right when I saw your pics of your car a while back I thought.. Holy.. It looks identical.

I'm located in Toronto Canada, and bought the car from an individual near me who bought it from someone else.. and at one point came from an owner from automotive shop. But from my PHS documentation... it was originally sold in Oshawa Canada..
Could it have been sold down South then returned back to Canada?
Maybe after 33yrs LOL

I bought the car it had a 400 pontiac and a Turbo 400... With headers and 6X heads. and cam.

I always loved the look of the TA's especially with Honeycomb rims..

My interior is the Burgandy color, and came with AC.

I would have loved to have found a 455 under the hood..

I ended up doing a motor. with a 74 400 bored .030 over. Forged pistons.. #62 Heads
Comp Cam. Hedman hedders. Edelbrock performer manifold. and reworked Rochester

Runs Fantastic.!!!

Definitely NOT the same car. I bought mine from the original owner, and he purchased the car from the Pontiac dealer in Wharton, TX.

Mine had the Ivory/Black standard interior, originally a 400/TH350 and A/C but not many other options.

I remember talking to you before and you had your car running hard with good numbers.

Now I got my car where performance is great and it incinerates the 255 Tires and leaving it in Drive! LOL

I Love the look of the 74/75 TA's

Thanks - best 1/4 mile pass was 11.80's @ 112 (IIRC), on slicks w/ open headers. Averaged 12.0's @ 110 or so. I was never the best tuner, I think there was some performance left in the car with someone who knows what they are doing getting the timing and jetting ironed out.

I like the 74-75 looks as well. Even with the wraparound rear glass I prefer the more aggressive front end appearance of the '75 models.

That car looks nice. That's going to be a great driver. Have fun with that X code car!
Dose not look like it will take too much work to get her going down the road.
Good luck with the project.
