I'm not sure this option was mentioned yet, but when my father first picked up his convertible, it didnt have a power top. Thinking that the power guts were removed, he removed the shell of the convert. roof (threw it out) and added the power top in...the thing was, that there wasn't a hole punched out in the dash for the switch for the top, so he punched it out himself. Only recently did he find out that his car had a manual convertible roof, I wonder how many pontiacs that year came with a manual top instead of the easily added power top option?

You don't mention the model but in the late 60's power tops were standard on all Pontiac convertibles except Firebird and Tempest Custom (Custom S in 69). They used a spring system similar to manual garage doors to counter balance the top so it was easier to lift and not prone to crashing down when lowering the top.

north: I have a 69 speedwarning I picked up off ebay about 6 months ago.
I got both of my speed minders off of ebay. Neither were listed as speed minders, but I could tell that they were from the pictures of the speedometer with the knob & extra needle & the buzzer. They were just listed as regular (idiot light) gages, so nobody even bid on them, except me.

If anyone would like to sell or trade those speedminders just let me know. I want to add the option to my LeMans instead of rally gauges. Want to stay away from performance options on that car and be a bit different (wire caps instead of RII's, bench instead of buckets, and hopefully speedwarning instead of gauges)

If anyone is interested you can PM me. If both of you want to sell I would buy both to be fair and besides I have this sickness that has me buying 69 Pontiac parts I have no need for. I am waiting on some new ground breaking experimental treatments since the regular course of drugs and surgery has so far been a total failure.

Do you mean, where does it mount in the car, or where can you buy one? If it is like the one in my 69 GTO it is attached up behind the gage package. If you are trying to buy one watch ebay, both of the ones I bought on ebay, had the buzzers attached to the back of the gages.

Sorry for the confusion. I was looking to buy a buzzer. According to my shop manual the buzzer on a 68 gto mounts to the left side of the glove box. I purchased a replacement wiring harness from M&H but have not had any luck finding a buzzer to buy.

I'm wondering if a seat belt buzzer from a later model might be adapted to work??

I have a while back but what year are they for? They look quite fragile too.

I don't see that part number in the '83 edition of the thru-75 parts guide. Was worth looking it up though, I think I found the earliest year part number in the book that I've come across in that group section! 3171598 Tire valve cap for 36-60 All!

I just found this old post. I'm not sure what these numbers mean. What are the meanings of these numbers?

Default Speedwarning

The reason speedwarning was not available with gauges was because when you got speedwarning you automatically got a low fuel lite indicator. The pod, wiring and lamp assy didn't allow enough clearance in the printed circuit for the gauge copper traces. I have a 69 unit in my inventory.

346 is the 2-barrel reg gas engine and 364 is the economy rear axle ratio. They reference build sheet numbers.
