yes, the blocks are supposed to be coming with spec sheets. as far as me, i am done testing other peoples products, i will be running a proven block for next season. the 2 new blocks from KRE will go into my dad's car(565"W2heads) and my stepmom's car,(505,KREported eldheads((stock Prod combo)). i am left with using the KRE HP heads, i have no other options right now! as far as the heads go, all i can say so far is that they seem to be a quality piece, and i like the engineering behind them(the design). as far as the hardness of the material, i do not know?? i just don't want to run into another season on "HOW TO SEAL THE PONTIAC ENGINE" with no results!! most would have quit with effort i put forth last season, just ask my stepmom, she said it would be no fun for her iff she had to do what i did just to go racing!! best wishes to all who have the Mr1 block, and all of the pontiac community!

Good luck, Brad. Your family sounds like alot of fun, what with all of that Pontiac power going on. My father was the only gearhead besides me in my immediate family, but he wasn't as deep into the performance as I am. My siblings and all of their spouses are for the most part, dorks (but I still love 'em...even my brother inlaw who's an appliance repairman for Sears but can't turn a wrench on a car...but he's a golfing sumb!tch, let me tell ya).

I received a Certified letter today recalling the MR-1 blocks with non-splaid main caps. They must be turned in by February 1 for a replacement. I'm glad I already took mine out.

There was no comment about the shipping. I am assuming that I pay for the return and they pay for the new one, but that is an assumption on my part.

Thanks Troy. Yes, the letter said non-splayed versions only were an issue.

I didn't read the letter close enough. It clearly states the assumption I made above. I pay to return the old one, and they pay to ship the new one.

Doesn't seem fair to me. Well, at least you're getting a new block.

Glad to see that the blocks are on recall. We didn't need to hear of any more cars potentially crashing or hurting more parts. Jim you should inquire regarding the shipping however. At least it's a step in the right direction.

OMT-
You have an IA2 on order - correct? Wonder if they will issue a refund in lieu of product? john |

I am quite sure there will be no refunds. A replacement part is the normal way of dealing with a situation like this. As to the shipping - I think their policy with this is also typical even though I have heard of some exceptions. The only exceptions that come to mind are the battery recalls the last few years.

Ken,we buy about 500 million dollars of merch to resell,we get returns from out cust. for defective merch. When we return it for credit we dont pay the freight back to our suppliers! If we do pay the freight we DO deduct it from the next invoice.Think of it this way,we paid the frieght when we bought it,if it is defective WHY shoud we be responsibel for freight again. They should pay shipping back to them and friegt back to us.Tom

I am glad you listened to some of us and did not run the block, Jim. The IA-2 will be a good block for you and I am sure you can sell the MR-1 to someone is CA. Are the replacing the conventional block with a splayed cap block? Tom V.
