The 4.250 inch and 4.500 inch stroke cranks are on there way to us and should be here no later than Monday of next week. I will personally work non-stop until all of the orders are shipped. This means almost everyone should have their cranks by the end of next week.

Yeah Brian, the crank cost me just $699,but the shipping from AllPontiac to my mates in Oklahoma cost $140 and then shipping to the UK cost another $414! And I haven't had the Customs bill for VAT(tax) and import duty yet!
I got the crank yesterday and it looks to be a nice piece, made by Scat,it rings like a bell, nice fillet radius',smooth thrust surfaces, still needs a little smoothing on the counterweight edges though. It's also a fair bit heavier than a stock cast 400 crank,I suppose that is to allow balancing to a heavy rotating assembly,or are the 4.00" stroke cranks normally that much heavier than the 3.75" cranks? I'll measure all the machined surfaces next week. Rob C,do I need to Magnaflux this crank or has it already been tested? |

''Rob C,do I need to Magnaflux this crank or has it already been tested?''
Taff, I would guess that if there were cracks in the crank, they would show up on the final grinding process after heat treating. And they would warp too. Our crankshafts are double heat treated. They are inspected by Scat and polished measured packed. It would be up to the builder to choose to do a mag check. Scat was shocked at how fast we check the material out. It is a nice clean steel. We have seen other forged crankshafts that are black in color and have a dull ring to it them. The center rod lightening holes are off center as much as a half inch. And the thrust is blue in color and had deep scratches in it. All of the radii had grinding blue marks all around every journal. The oil slinger was deep blue in color. Blue marks are a sign of a rapid grinding process and were not left to spark out during the grinding process. The journals were .001 oversize and would need to be reground. Are they good steel? We would not know. Are they cheaper? By just a tad. But you can bet the farm that we check out our stuff before we bought the mother load. Sorry to all that have put up with us on this deal. It took a long time to bring it to a full circle. Wade and Frank did most of the work and Tom V. had a big hand in making sure we were on the right page before and after the deal. Thanks to all that bought one and to all that might give us a chance to serve you in the future. Remember this is a introductory first offering that will not last for ever. So get them while there hot.

Yeah I agree, a much needed piece at a very fair price. It will allow us ordinary racers to up the ante considerably with our Pontiacs.

Anybody that buys one of these cranks and wants to thank me can buy me an icecream at Norwalk this year. The cranks are nice pieces.
Tom V. ps Baker owes me a couple of $1.00/lb servings that he has not paid off on yet.

Thanks to All Pontiac & BOP for bringing our Pontiac's to a new affordable level. I was going to use one of your cranks but ran out of time. I may still get one (4.50)if there are any left after I finish with this 505 build. Sort of blew my wad on this monster ! Of course I have to thank you AllPontiac for the parts in the 505 to..
I saw your crank & heads at the OPDS banquet...Very nice and a great price. Also want to thank you Bob C. & Frank for being a sponsor of our OPDS series. Now if this Gaydosh 505 doesn't destroy my chassis I'll go for more cubes in the future.. Tom V...Thanks for your input...Be a pleasure to spend a buck on ya at Norwalk "Sir"...actually never caught up with you last year..Are you coming to VMP ??

i read through a few of these pages - maybe i missed it
are the 3.25" definitely not happening? or will it...given a year or two I'm planning a long term project and thinking about options |

I don't see any 3.25 main cranks in the near future
4.00" first, then 4.25/4.50 (all with 3" main). Bob and Frank/Wade can tell you about the 3.25 cranks. Tom V.
