As some of you may know I have the only aluminum frame. I wrote recently to PHS and they have no info on it although it has a rather complete builders plate with specs and application plainly listed. PHS told me that they have virtually nothing on the '63 SD program other than a few adverisment copies. They speculated that the aluminum frame may have been going to be the fix for the Swiss Cheese frames that were breaking. Pontiac got off that hook due to the Jan '63 racing cut off. No additonal information has come to light since. I have the PHS letteer here...........Hey, I may have a picture of it on file in my computer............I will try to figure out how to add it to this post, if not I will Post it seperately.

heckinohio - That frame you’re talking about is one of the most interesting things I have ever heard about !! Sounds like it might be the only one in existence! Would be a great conversation piece if you brought to Norwalk in August!!!

Does anybody remember the 63 Super Duty that ran out of Boaz, Alabama under the name San Ann Special? The owner was Bob Tate, who passed amay a few years ago. It was originally a Black 2 door post Catalina and was sold in about 1976 to a guy in Centre, Alabama without the original motor which was long gone. Car was well known in Alabama as a match racer. It was supposedly sold to someone up North in the late 70s or early 80s. I was told one time that it ended up with the Heck Brothers. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. My Brother in Law's dad lettered the car when it was new as he was a sign painter. He has pics of it in as raced condition that I am trying to get him to find so I can post them. The car was sponsored by San Ann Gasoline which was a chain of gas stations based in Boaz, Alabama. A story goes that a guy came into town one night in a fast car and beat everybody in town and the guy says ya'll don't have anything down here that will run with me. So somebody says lets call Tate, he will run you. The guy says call him. So they call Tate and he says he is on his way. Tate lived a Mile or so away and they say you could hear it crank up all the way across town, and the guy hears it crank up and coming to race him and he gets in his car and drives away and is never seen in town again wanting to race!

The cars pictured here are my own cars that I built and raced at the 3/8 dirt track in Erie Pa, my hometown. These pics are 1975 - 1982. the cars pictured here are a 1967 LeMans, GTO clone, basically stock rebuild 400 CID with Ram Air III exhaust manifolds W/ 3 inch pipes and cam and a reworked Q Jet on a cast iron intake. This car had numerous heat wins and 5 feature wins in 2 years. The Grand Prix is an actual SJ 428 390 HP car, The engine had solid comp cam TRW forged pistons Std. bore, cast reconditioned rods, 92 heads, iron intake and reworked Q Jet. Not as good a record as the GTO only a few heat wins. The 71 Firebird had a basically stock rebuilt 455 cast pistons a ram air III cam and exhaust manifolds W/ 3 inch pipes with a reworked Q Jet on cast iron intake. It had numerous heat wins and 2 feature win in less than a year when the car was broadsided on the front straightaway and totaled. I don't have any pics of the 2 61 bubbletops that we competed in around 1971 - 1973. One was a Ventura and the other a Catalina. They both had 389 s with 428 HO heads, Crower hyd. cam and long branch SD manifolds cast iron manifold W/ holley carb. These cars were driven by someone else beside me, and had moderate sucess with them. Therein lies the reason I decided to drive my own cars, instead of leaving the driving chores to someone else.

This picture was taken about 1968 at Dragway 42, West Salem Ohio. At the time it was billed as the Stereo Dragstrip because there were two dragstrips, side by side. They would run two races at the same time...

It's my uncle, Gordy Smith working on his 1966 GTO between races. Gordy owned one of the fastest 1/4 mile cars in Spencer, throughout the 60's & early 70's. He got me started. Had me flaging street races & changing clutches when I was 13. I had my first GTO, a 1966, my senior year of high school in 1971. Gordy bought that GTO back from me, with a blown motor, when I went in the army... He's coming over in the morning to help me tear the rearend out of my 71....

The Linden Green 67 is a real Ram Air 4spd post car, also not for sale. Would you want to sell them if they were your's??? Hey Brian can you email me that pic of the Grey Ghost in its real colors. Thanks, Moe. Anyone else have pics or tech info they can email me please I need as much detail as possible so we can get it right.

Do you know any history on the Linden Green 67? By any chance did it come out of Minnesota? PM me if you had rather not reply on here.

All 14 (13???) of these cars were Cadillac Fire Mist Silver with med blue catalina interiors. I had one when it only had 36 miles on the odo..... also have photos of it.....dont know how to post them.

Or are we talking about another car sporting the same name??????

PJ, he's refering to the 66 GTO Funny car Named "Grey Ghost" it was campaign later by Garfinkel and Larry Switaek, there's some pics of it(unrestored) in this Thread a few pages back.
