Beginning of March. Cleaned up the interior floor and rust proofed from the inside (POR 15 will take care of the bottom side)
Epoxy primered the entire car before priming and sanding ...

Seats recovered. Came out excellent. Foams are all new. Have the door panels but have to put the stainless on them (and reflectors). Added headrest option which came out phenomenal ... really like the look.

Gas Tank ... restored with gas tank restoration system and painted with Eastwood Tank Restorer ... I think it came out great ... will sandblast the tank straps and paint black as original.
Trunk Restored with the closet color match I could find to original and it looks fantastic but not 100% color matched but better than the typical gray trunks that people use ... this is Plasti-Kote Dark Green and Aqua flakes ...

Second Round of double coat primer ... followed by taking the body outside on the last nice day we had other than Easter ... put the guide coat on and started blocking the car out ...

Circled about 12 spots with the magic marker ... took care of them ... and primed a third time double coat ... rubbing it really really good and can't find any spots that are bad ... but I'm sure I will ... I'll just keep on working on it until it is awesome ... but I think it's really really really straight as it sits. We'll see! lol It is done being worked on until it goes back on the body and ready for paint ... then I'll fix it until it's ready to paint!

Chassis going together ... this has to be finished with engine, tranny, brakes, etc, before I'll put the body on the frame for final prep and painting.
Purchased Ram Air Restoration's complete rear suspension system (I want to car to drive more like my GTO or even better) tubular arms, thick sway bar, control arm connectors, poly bushings ... Rear End restored with a complete rebuild kit (3:42 posi) ... Went to put my new Moog 543 springs on but they don't fit! So drove to Eaton and their springs didn't fit ... going back today and I think he's going to custom make them for me ... his don't fit over the spring retainer. My Koni shocks don't fit on the car either ... so may buy Vikings ... It seems that all the NOS shocks have the bolt pressed in but this car already has a bolt in the housing so I think I need a shock with the hole on the bottom for the bolt to go through it? I'll post about that later unless someone reading this can help? Well that's where I'm at ... chassis working continuing tomorrow ... Dash Pad is out to get done. Sending WW motor/pump out real soon to get that done. There's SO much to do ... but it keeps my mind working 24/7 ...

Yeah but it's fun. Of course I wish it was done "yesterday" but considering the months I've not done anything I guess I can't complain. lol Plus, I really want it to turn out awesome and I plan on driving it all the time so doing the extras like new technology suspension, shocks, rebuilt PS box with 2.25 turns lock to lock, new steering linkage and bigger front sway bar ... it better ride good! lol
Plus also plan at this point to add disk brakes if I can. It's off to Detroit today (my day off) to return the Eaton springs and have him just make a set that fits.

One question: did the outsides of the trunk floor ever have overhanging "ledges" (that sort of acts as a way to keep large items out of the lower pockets formed by the lower quarter panel behind the wheelwell)? My '65 did and I am curious whether '66s did also.

Engine my car just has those little 'lips' as detailed in the pics and it's all original sheet metal. It did come with the cardboard panels that will be replaced.

JS ... that's easy ... no! Lol. It's been a labor of love and devotion and honoring my boy so time isn't an issue. But I will say that it'll be 2 years May 1 with many months with nothing getting done so I'm happy.

Looking great! I'll use your process to clean up my grilles, IF I ever want to pull it apart. I'm going to add headrests also, liked them on my GTO. Enjoy looking at your progress, I know I could never do anything like that to any of my cars, without hitting the lottery
