OK, the Cyclone was in W. Libby St. just off n 31st Ave.
But I bought a very nice 70 GTO vert in 2011 from a guy name Nate in E. Laguna Azul St. Mesa. In both cases I used local guy, Garry Boyce to ship them to Long Beach. (I can recommend Garry to anyone moving a car). |

A few more pictures
I did a little buffing on the roof. This how it looks after about an hour. ![]() This is a shot of the right side sail panel after removal of a lot of oxidation. ![]() The back end after I washed off most of the dirt from sitting for so long. ![]() The front end,,, LOVE the marker lights! ![]() The dealers emblem & the windshields NRA sticker. ![]() ![]() Under the hood. Except for the aftermarket A/C & wiper washer pump,,, everything is bone stock. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow, the trim on that car is in great shape and the Thermoquad looks new.
Funny how there's no stainless trim at the color break?

Time to build a Qjet to get better freeway mileage.

Its an AFB.. Going to leave everything as found. With the 2.73 gears the vacume gage pulls 16 inches at 60-70 mph. At 80 mph the vacume gage slowly comes up to 20 inches. There are several entry's in the original owners book where this car was getting 18-19 MPG! 80 MPH seems to be the sweet spot with this motor/gear combo. right now my combined city/highway driving is close to 15 MPG.

The car was an original LL paint code. In the 70's the top was painted white. Carter AFB carb. Stainless is very nice. Just needs a good polishing!

Oops...slip of the keyboard. I knew it was an AFB but somehow typed "Thermoquad". I'd just finished reading that Demon T-quad thread in another part of the forum and had it on the brain I guess... At any rate, the AFB appears to have been rebuilt. Looks practically new.
15mpg is very respectable mileage for that car! About what I get in my '97 Ram. How tolerant is it in regard to octane?

The beautiful condition of the tail panel, trunk lid trim and taillight bezels makes me wanna throw up! I've got SIX sets of those and all are pitted to some degree. AND thats a former IL car...arrggghhh!

I hit the carb with a couple cans of brake kleen & a blow gun to clean it up some. 10.50-1 compression motor, I usa a bottle of 108 octane boost to a tank of 91 octane. Owners manual says it should be run on 98 octane. Have had no issues yet. No ping or rattle. Runs fine.

Car was bought Oct 11th of 65. Have some reciepts from Joliet in 65, some from Texas in 66 & California in 67. Everything since 68 has been from Sierra Vista AZ or from Tucson & a couple from Phoenix. So allmost her entire life this car has been in the southwest. Garage kept since 85.

I drove a stock '66 with 2.56 rear and rest same as yours for many years. I could get 18 MPG at 70-80 consistently. I would never run anything other than a well tuned Carter. You're never goin back to any other car after this trip is my prediction.

Hey Keith,
What a short but, great road trip to Bakersfield for the Hot Rod Reunion. It's been my favorite event of the year since I started going in 1992. The GP runs/drives/looks just great and just cruises down the hwy without a care in the world. I bet you could run regular too. a great weekend is always better when you go with real Pontiac power under the hood. And this time- a WHOLE V8! ![]() It was about 500mi each way
