I'm 29. Have been into Pontiacs since I was about 14. Bought a '74 GTO for $600 at 14 and still have it. Since then I have added several other Pontiac's to the garage.

56 on the 28th......and when I was peddling my Murray Fireball 500 down the sidewalk shortly after Christmas in 1963, Old Man Taylor was banging gears in his new '64 GTO....the one he still bangs gears in. That is pretty amazing.

You nailed it. My first car was a 4 speed '66 GTO in the late '70's.....traded it for my Yamaha RD350 at a party. And all the other GTO's I picked up shortly after that were cheap, good looking, and fast cars. They were all over the place back then. Much more stylish than the Chevies, and better built than the Mopars.

I believe that is it. Glad to know I am in the majority group on something. You could get a lot of these cars back the for $300-$1000 in roadworthy condition. And at the time, the '60s and early '70s iron would blow the doors off anything brand new.

If you read into this it's kind of scary. It looks to me the younger folks are not interested in these cars? I wonder how a similar site for Ford, Chevy or Mopar would be. Why? Maybe prices for part and ability to find. Caused by? I think most of us know why but it will never change , but that's a whole other story. Doug

I kept the car, but pitched the 8 tracks one at a time as they broke.
He bought the car in 79, and would of bought a 1970 1/2 RAIV T/A, but my Dad said no because the owner had to do something under the hood to get it started.

I took it(Formula) for a ride when no one was home, got pulled over for scratching off 2nd gear. Asked the cop to give me some room to pull out when he let me go, told him I wasn't very good at driving a stick shift. I was only 14!

I noticed that. Not sure what else we can do. Although both of my sons are very interested in my Pontiac endeavors, only one of them owns a Pontiac.

i'm very jealous with what you have available in AZ! I took a trip to Sedona a few years ago and I could not believe my eyes when looking at the cars that were on the road or sitting in folks yards.

My '74 Firebird is my first Pontiac, but the "one that got away" was a rust-free '65 Catalina Ventura hardtop for $3000 when I was 23. It still haunts me! It had 8-lugs, good yellow paint, and a pretty good interior. It wasn't running well, and that scared me off a bit, because I didn't really have the kind of money to buy it and fix anything major.

I've been driving my '65 Mustang since I was 17, so I've been messing with cars pretty much my whole life.

The funny part of the whole incident was that I was ahead of him when it happened but started slowing down for no reason and when he pulled up along side of me he pointed behind us - it was at that point I saw the smoke & felt the vibration.
