If how fast you run matters as to what someone can say here, then you need to STFU and listen to the ECM.

Waiting breathlessly to see what dribble you post up to reply.

Actually Dragncar made a comment that I thought was funny, so i made a small comment on it.
Why do you care how many years......besides I didnt know there was a time frame?
Actually i was encouraged by what I ran last weekend 5.16 was pretty good for the being turned down and yes I backed it down because i made changes to the suspension and I didn't know what it was going to do....just trying to play it safe! The weather and track was crap also. Normally i run about 2.9 seconds more in the 1/4 mile then an 1/8 mile hit, so that 5.16 would have been an 8.0 run........my cars pretty consistent that way! ill see next weekend.
I have no idea what the Muppets have to do with anything.....just saying.

You are correct there is no time frame. But it has reached the point where you have turned from GTO George into Chicken Little.

What the ECM has to do with it is they let their performance talk with new PB's How many time in the last couple of years?

Last year I ran my quickest 1/4 mile time (8.06) at Norwalk in 90 degree temps. Running 8.06 in 90 degree temps on only 11 lbs of boost is pretty DAMN impressive. 11 lbs of boost is like a 200 shot of Nitrous. I then made some changes and went to Milan and ran my quickest 1/8 mile times slipping and sliding down the track (and yes i have recorded proof i was slipping and sliding)......so yes I ran my PB last year, I plan on improving next weekend.
Yes the 4.90's in the 1/8 is hoping stuff I won't know until I put the timing back to 28 degrees and run it. I was at about 25 degrees last week at Milan

Figure it out. The guy is a craftsman. Races a stock block with a turbo with a finely welded up lifter valley. Its right up his alley and almost bolt on.

Im just saying that there are a lot of 1,000-1,500 hp car that don't have it, I was just curious? Wouldn't it be cheaper and maybe easier to run an aftermarket block, that piece could be expensive. It looks nice! I mean if he wants it .....he wants it.

Ya I know I do everything wrong (tire pressure, my blower belt too tight)...........DAMN when will I learn and I still run quicker then you. LOL!
You know I NEVER said who needs a Degree wheel.......I said a SMALL, CHEAP degree wheel is useless and is a waste of time! I have degreed my last 3 camshafts in FWIW. First off you don't know anything (hence the 10.90 time slips) so I don't listen to you....what did you say?

Now back yo you Jack@$$. What you did was edit/take me out of context. The exact quote was "I have no pretentious I am one of the big boys". I was flicking some crap Brians way, not yours. (because he wants to be in "the club" , get it)
Now I know you have trouble hitting the triple digits IQ wise But "pretentious" means "claiming that as if one is important or deserving of merit when such is not the case. Or "showing or betraying a attitude of superiority" .
What you did was try and show just the opposite of what I posted.
Watch yourself George. It was a punk move.
Now you really need some sort of help. Taking off in a car like yours without knowing tire pressure and timing is alarming. Maybe you do need to retire from racing before you hurt yourself or others.

I have zero ambition to join the big dogs. I don't have the time or want or money. But thanks for thinking of me.

No problem, I got your back.

You know, I made a comment years back about Leech having the closest thing to a Pontiac Pro Stock bottom end around. And you came back with a "beg to differ" comment referring to your own. So I take it you have a top shelf bottom end.
Your heads are 45ccs. Mikes were about 56ccs. You have a MUCH bigger/better heads. Ported by a top level head porter. You might not have that 4.65 crank but you have got to end up with at least 16-1 CR, maybe more.
So you are not trying to get grandma down to bingo Tuesday night. Unless you want to get her there in 7 seconds.
If that thing does not make 1200HP+ something is wrong.
You are going to make big power. Hope you do.
You want to be in the club, just a little.
Its not cheap what you are doing.

George, I really would like to use an aftermarket block for my build, however,by the time they get over here cost is around $5000, I priced up both AP and KRE. I built my whole current engine and trans for less than that. I already have a home fabbed girdle on my '59 389 block combo - which has been fine up to the 1000hp mark -bearings and crank look like new at the last stripdown -however my goal is around the 1400hp mark (and so is a similar combo we are building for my son's car)-I would like not to have to build another girdle for my son's car as it's a lot of work (although I have a design drawn out ready!). I don't see a problem with using a good stock block at very high hp levels with a welded up valley and good mains girdle-both should help stop the block flex that cracks them up through the mains oil holes- but it is a LOT of work. I envy the Chebby guys who can go out and buy a aftermarket block for $2500.
I suppose I enjoy the challenge of making an old engine design that was deleted in '79 do something that it shouldn't! Or maybe I'm just a tightwad...
I believe that a cast mains girdle would bridge the gap between a stock and aftermarket block, if it was priced competitively. A one piece perimeter girdle that dropped over the stock caps (or even over splayed caps) could even save the cost of a line hone, and would effectively tie the caps into the strong pan rails like a crossbolted design, jmo.

My bottom end is no near Pro Stock and neither was Mike's at that time.
I have never had a goal of running 7s, my car will never run that, ever. And my junk will never make 1200hp. Those aren't my goals.

If only it was this easy. I pick at what RPM I want peak HP, what my VE% will be, and what my BSFC is and I am done.

About Us

The PY Online Forums is the largest online gathering of Pontiac enthusiasts anywhere in the world. Founded in 1991, it was also the first online forum for people to gather and talk about their Pontiacs. Since then, it has become the mecca of Pontiac technical data and knowledge that no other place can surpass.
